The year 2015 will begin with a program on a very difficult topic. It exists in cities around the country and, yes, right here in our own area: human sex trafficking.
Sex trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act where such an act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age. It is reported that 100,000 American children are exploited through the commercial sex industry each year. The average age a child is first exploited is 13 years old.
Lisa Boler and her husband, Jeff, run Harvest House, a local ministry dedicated to working with and helping
underage victims of sex trafficking.
Lisa is a Certified Faith-Based Counselor and is attending Global University pursuing her Ministerial Diploma. She is the Pastor of Overcomer’s small group ministry, and works in Women’s Ministry in her local church. She works closely with Minnie Rogers Detention Center, and the Beaumont Police Department training officers on how to recognize domestic minor sex trafficking.
Please note we will no longer announce the week's menu. Diners can expect a salad bar, soup, two entree buffet and sides of vegetables or starches. Desserts and coffee will be available on the sidebars.

The RYLA Team and students are packing their bags and making all the necessary preparations for RYLA 2015!
We send good wishes with Tim Sudela, Cindy Cherry, Michael Perez and Shawn Pierce as they attend with the 16 students sponsored by our Club. (With the weather forecast for the weekend, they will likely be enjoying cookies instead of ice cream this year!)
Thank you to Rotarian Roger Bemis, principal of Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School, who has arranged for and provided a bus as transportation for the students.
We will get to hear all about the weekend and the learning experiences for the students at our meeting on January 14. Make sure you are in attendance to hear all about it. If you can spare a meal ticket for next week, please drop it in the bowl on Wednesday to provide lunch for the students and their parents as our guests. Thank you.
The Rotary year is approximately at the mid-point which means half the goals for the year should be completed and accomplished! How is your committee doing? Do you need some motivation, ideas and support? Consider attending the District 5910 Mid-Year meeting on Saturday, February 7.

Our Club will award the coveted honor at the February 25th meeting, according to this year's chairman, Ken Evans.
The deadline for nomination is Wednesday, February 4th.
