On Wednesday, July 7, Bradley D. Brown will become the 2021-2022 President of the Rotary Club of Beaumont. Brad and the Officers and members of the Board of Directors will be installed by Past District Governor Roger McCabe.
Come be a part of the historical change of leadership and observe the traditional "Passing of the Gavel," signifying the strength and foundation of leadership upon which the Club continues to lead and serve in our community and around the world. President Brad will share his vision and goals for the year ahead.

Meet the Newest Rotarians in the Club!
Two new Rotarians were welcomed into the Club on June 23. We are happy to introduce to you Helen Lou and Jacques Gagne.
Helen Lou, Professor in the Dan F. Smith Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at Lamar University, was born in Luoyang, China. She moved to the U.S., specifically Detroit, Michigan, in 2001. She earned two degrees - in Chemical Engineering and Computer Science - and her areas of expertise are Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning and Process Systems Engineering. In addition to her role as Professor, Helen is also Associate Director of the Center for Midstream Management and Science at Lamar.
Helen joined Rotary to make new friends, meet community leaders and serve the community. She enjoys jogging, growing vegetables, cooking, and traveling.
Meet Jacques Gagne. Jacques was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama but moved with his parents to Beaumont when he was only an infant. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Animal Science, and is the Buyer for Coburn Supply Company. Jacques' avocation is gardening which keeps him busy year-round, as does supporting his daughter's many activities.
Jacques joined the Club to give back to the community.
Helen and Jacques BOTH volunteered immediately and helped with the flag project on July 4th! Thank you and welcome, Helen and Jacques!

Congratulations to Rotary University Graduates!
At the final meeting of the year, President Cindy Cherry was pleased to "graduate" three members from Rotary University with a Bachelor of Rotary Science degree. Each will soon be wearing a blue badge and working on their Masters degree!

We have other Rotarians who have been approved for graduation. Our next ceremony will be scheduled in the very near future. Watch for an announcement!

Scot Babineaux joined the Rotary Club of Beaumont in September of 2014 after serving as a member of the Rotary Club of Nederland since January 1987. He was owner of Scot Babineaux Insurance Agency on Hwy. 105.

President Cindy Cherry had a great number of things to do and awards to present at the final meeting during her term of office. She got right down to business with a Rotary Graduation and presentation of a donation to Paula O'Neal with Some Other Place. She added her abundant thanks to all who have donated to the N.E.S.T. project where work is well-underway preparing the room for the artist to begin to create a magical background for the innovative learning that will take place there.
It was then time to begin acknowledging the people who helped to make the 2020-21 year successful. She started with those who earned Perfect Attendance. She noted that while this was a difficult year to achieve recognition, many still earned the nod because of the ability to attend virtually, complete online makeups, take part in a Board or committee meeting or attend an eClub meeting. A group of Rotarians earned a Paul Harris Fellow for their contributions this year and President Cindy was pleased to be able to present them to the members: Michael Perez (a PHF+1), Dana Timaeus (PHF+2), Jay Wilson (PHF+2), Victor Zaloom (PHF+2), Charles Locke (PHF+4), and Floyd McSpadden, Jr. (PHF+5 AND +6).
Continuing the tradition begun by then President Tim Sudela, President Cindy presented the "Rookie of the Year" Award which recognizes a person who has made exceptional contributions as a very new member.
"Rookie of the Year" Award was presented to Amanda Ellis.
Bobbie Applegate, chair of the "Spirit of Rotary" Award committee announced the recipient of that honor.
"Spirit of Rotary" Award was presented to Rebekah Maxwell.
President Cindy acknowledged the appointed and elected Board members and then thanked the outgoing members of the Board: Treasurer Jane Burns, Sergeant-at-Arms Wesley Shipley, Presidential Advisor Angela Baker and Past President Joe Domino for their many contributions this year.
With much appreciation, Cindy presented Paul Harris Fellowships or other special gifts to a number of people who she acknowledged for their contributions this year: Diane Bass as Vice President, Jay Wilson as Secretary, Robert Turner as outgoing Foundation Board Chair, John Lee as Community Service Chair, Pat Anderson as Assistant Governor, Larry Beaulieu, as Technology "guru", Mandy Clayton as Head Table Chair, Deborah Drago as Membership Chair, Teresa Simpson as the N.E.S.T. Project Chair, Jacque Chapman as Executive Director, and Tim Sudela for his many, various contributions.
After all the awards concluded, the Swan Song/entertainment began by the "Not So Primetime Rotary Community Players." It was hilarious and you will want to watch the video recording of the entire performance. You will find a version in the recording of the meeting of the week (see the Zoom icon below) or wait for a more professional recording that is being produced for us right now. It will be posted as soon as it is available.
