The Rotary Club of Beaumont held their regular meeting at noon at The MCM Elegante on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, with Uliana Trylowsky serving as President and presiding over the program.

The meeting began with a moment of silence to remember Michael Wolf, a member who had passed away. Michael was recognized for 40 years of perfect attendance at Rotary.

The invocation was led by Kate Carroll and the pledge of allegiance to our country’s flag as well as the flag of the Great State of Texas was led by Cheryl Bilyeu.

Tim Sudela presented Paul Harris Fellows to Katherine Fuller and Rebecca DeGarmo for their donations to the Rotary International Foundation. Rebecca’s was a +8.

Uliana announced that Rotary dues were due on June 15th and reminded members to pay promptly to avoid coverage issues.

Michael Perez presented two new blue badge recipients: Desiree Pete from the CVB who will co-chair the Communications and PR Committee, and Jason Marshburn, an avid cook and cookbook collector.

Lee Potter announced that next week's lunch meeting will be replaced with a farewell event for Uliana at 5:30 PM at the Edison Plaza lobby, where beer and wine will be served.

Larry Beaulieu introduced the main speaker for the day, Greg Bostwick, a meteorologist and horticulturist with extensive experience in television, radio, and farming, who will discuss the upcoming hurricane season and weather patterns. The introduction included a brief overview of Greg's background and accomplishments, including his work at KFDM since 1979 and his current activities in building and farming.

Greg presented on hurricane season updates and weather patterns. He explained the difference between El Nino and La Nina, noting that El Nino typically leads to fewer Atlantic storms due to increased wind shear and sinking air, though he emphasized that storm impacts depend on where they hit rather than overall numbers. The presentation covered current hurricane activity, including Tropical Storm Arthur, and discussed various hurricane threats beyond wind damage such as storm surge, inland flooding, and tornadoes. The conversation ended with a discussion about gardening tips and the announcement of next week's cancellation due to an end-of-year celebration at Edison Plaza.

The meeting concluded with the recitation of the Rotary 4 Way Test and ringing of the bell.
