Amy Killgore joined the Rotary Club of League City in 2009. She first learned about Rotary in 1996 when she was assigned to be the waitress for a group of "old singing people" at the restaurant where she worked right out of high school. Now, Amy is the Prevention Specialist for a local public school district and has been active in her club since her induction. Amy has served in many capacities within her club, including Club President, Foundation, Service and Public Image, and RYLA chairs. Her club has recognized her as a District 5910 Roll of Fame recipient. At the District level, Amy served as the first EarlyAct chairman and served as Assistant Governor, District Trainer, and Rotary Leadership Instructor.
The Rotary Foundation is Amy's charity of choice. Amy has been named a Paul Harris Society Member, Paul Harris plus eight, and Bequest Society Member. Amy's husband Stacy, is a member of the Rotary Lone Star E-Club of Texas, and they have two daughters who love to volunteer.

Installation of Rebekah Maxwell/Passing the Gavel

Our new president of the Rotary Club of Beaumont for 2023-2024, Rebekah Maxwell, was installed at last week’s meeting by Past District Governor, Ulli Budelmann. Mr. Budelmann has been in Rotary since 1993, he has served on the Youth Exchange program for over twenty years and has served as chairman of a number of other committees through the years. Mr. Budelmann first met Rebekah in 2010 when he was on the committee responsible for interviewing and selecting applicants for the Ambassadorial Scholarship abroad. He has been a mentor and interested in her activities in Rotary ever since, which is why she asked him to come to Beaumont and install her.
He then introduced the slate of Beaumont Rotary Officers and Trustees for the coming year and asked them to come up. After installing them, he then installed Rebekah as President. Next, the former presidents were invited to come up to the front for the ritual “Passing of the Gavel.” Fourteen former presidents were present for the ceremony.
Rebekah then spoke to the club about her hopes for the year ahead and thanked all of those who have helped her in the past and would be helping her over the next year. She was particularly thankful of Mr. Budelmann and Becky Mason, who she referred to as her Rotary Mom. Then she thanked her family for their support over the past year as she has prepared for this.
The theme for Rotary this year is “Create Hope in the World,” and Rebekah hopes to make that a reality in our club by growing our membership, getting more of our members involved, and planning strategically for not just this year, but the next five to ten years.
