After a successful year, it's time to celebrate the Club's accomplishments under his leadership with the traditional roast known as the "Swan Song." WHAT'S AHEAD!
The 2016-17 Rotary year will begin on July 6 with the Installation of incoming President Ted Moor. The gavel will pass through the hands of the Club's Past Presidents followed by the new President sharing his vision for the next year.
The 2016-17 Rotary District 5910 Governor Gig Langston will be our guest speaker on July 13 as he makes his official visit to the club to share the message of Rotary International President John Germ. Come meet Gig and enjoy this meeting with us.

Do it! Say "Yes, I'll serve!"when you are asked to be a part of a committee or project in 2016-17. Incoming President Ted Moor has recruited chairs for nearly every committee for the new year. Those Chairs will be asking for you to serve with them in some way in the new year. Please say "Yes!" Ted also has a printed copy of a list of committees that you can complete to indicate where and how you would like to serve. Please don't be shy and wait to be asked. Raise your hand and join in "Rotary - Beyond the Meetings!" by completing the survey at the next meeting.

Invoices for July-December 2016 dues were sent out to Rotarians and payment is due by July 1.
A huge pat-on-the-back and hearty "THANK YOU" to each and every Rotarian who has already submitted payment! IT IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! Let's see if we can hit 100% by July 1 deadline!
There is a link built into the emailed invoice so you need only click on the link in order to be automatically directed to your personal payment page. Please check your email inbox; if you are not seeing it, please check your "spam" folder. Call the Rotary office if you need another copy emailed to you.
Printed copies were mailed to those who requested that form of invoicing; call the Rotary Office at 409-842-1913 now if you do not have that directive in place. Those with credit cards on file should note that your dues will be charged on June 30 as requested.

On July 1 Rotary International automatically charges the club for dues for all members on the rolls as of that date. If you are anticipating a change in your membership status, please call the Rotary office (409-842-1913) to advise us of the change immediately so we will not be charged for your dues. Resignation after dues have been assessed causes one to be terminated from the club in bad-standing because of bad debt.
Your prompt payment of dues saves the office staff a tremendous amount of time collecting delinquent payments. Thank you!

INVOICES INCLUDE VOLUNTARY DONATION
On the current invoices, you will notice a difference in the total from previous invoices. Dues have not increased, but the addition of an amount of $50 has been added.
The Beaumont Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees asked that this nominal $50 be added to the invoices as a reminder that a voluntary tax-deductible donation to the Beaumont Rotary Foundation for "Service Above Self" is requested. Members are asked to please consider the voluntary donation to help support the club'sservice projects, such as scholarships, quarterly service projects, RYLA, the books we read to local first graders, etc.
Since dues billings have become an electronic tool, the amount of Service Above Self donations has dropped dramatically, leaving the club with significantly less funds to provide local service. We attribute that to Rotarians not understanding how to add dollars into the payment system. If you wish to donate more or less, simply pay online the amount you would like.
Of course, if you are accustomed to making a larger donation and/or including The Rotary Foundation, which funds international projects such as water wells, emergency assistance, and polio eradication, as a beneficiary of your generosity also, we hope you will continue doing so.
It is necessary, it is our mission, to continue the work in our community and around the world.

Members Welcomed to the Club!
The past two weeks have been extra exciting as we have welcomed 2 new members to the club at EACH of those meetings.
Anthony "Tony" Clark is newly installed Rector at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Beaumont. Originally from Springfield, MA, Tony lived in Orlando immediately prior to coming to Beaumont. He was a member of the Apopka Rotary Club and was also a member of the Army & Air National Guard. He was proposed by Charles Teel.
Mahdi Safa, proposed by Henry Venta, is an Assistant Professor on the faculty of Lamar University in Construction Management. Born in Saveh, Iran, Mahdi lived in Ontario, Canada before moving to Beaumont in 2015. He loves the Southeast Texas climate for outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and gardening.
Rebekah Maxwell is certainly not new to Rotary and is no stranger to our Club either. She was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, has been a member in both the Lamar and Beaumont Rotaract clubs and is currently advisor/sponsor to the Lamar Club. As the Reaud Honors College Coordinator and in various leadership positions with Leadership Beaumont, she stays quite busy and manages to own and operate her own business, Restep Marketing, as well.
Pat Anderson was pleased to welcome Pat Calhoun! Calhoun is Vice President of Workforce Development at Lamar Institute of Technology, and he was proposed by Paul Szuch. Pat has been active with many community organizations including the Chamber and Leadership Southeast Texas. Pat is eager to get involved with Rotary service projects.

"Recognition of Rotarians"

This past week our Rotary meeting was a “Salute to 2015/16 Leadership”. During the meeting President Pat recognized our 31 new members in our club as well as the various Lane Chairs and the Co-Lane Chairs. As Pat called out the names of all the individuals who have helped run our club over this past year, it made me appreciate how large our club is and how many club volunteers it takes to accomplish our goals. Our goals are not solely dedicated to raising money to help eradicate polio, improve our city, or help the less fortunate. Our goals also include non-monetary objectives such as making sure that our members make new friends, conduct a little business and, oh yes, have some fun.
The “Spirit of Rotary Award” was presented to Lynn Castle this year for her ability to take an otherwise wonderful song, add new words to it and make it sound like a car just ran over a cat’s tail. In order to win this prestigious award, you must be a new member that has been in Rotary no more than six years and has provided outstanding service to our club and community. Michael Perez presented Lynn her award and regaled our club with a song that brought tears to my eyes and a pounding in my head.
Perfect attendance awards were also handed out. Topping the list was Fred Kristiansen with 41 years perfect attendance and Jay Johnson with 46 years perfect attendance.
Pat also gave special appreciation and recognition to Angela Baker, Bobbie Applegate and David Locke for chairing the “Wine Down with Rotary” event. This was the first year to hold this event and it was a wonderful success both monetarily and in terms of Rotarians and their guests having a great time. These three individuals (along with all the other volunteers) put on a wonderful event that will hopefully continue on for years to come.
Lastly, Pat gave Jacque Chapman a very nice (yet undisclosed) gift for her service to our club. He added that it takes more than one person (the Executive Director or the President) to make a great club like ours continue to enjoy the success that we have had through the years. He thanked everyone for their service.
