ROTARY GOES TO SCHOOL
Rotarians will meet May 5th in the library at Martin Elementary at 10:00 AM (arrive 10 minutes early to allow time for check in at the front desk). Students will be able to view book titles and choose 10 options. We order the books, and they are able to go home and read over the summer. This is a great program and partnership with Martin Elementary.

The Rotary Club of Beaumont met for their weekly Wednesday meeting on April 29, 2026 at the MCM Elegante’ Hotel.
The noon meeting was called to order by Club President Uliana Trylowsky. Joining Uliana at the head table were:
Michael Perez providing the Invocation, Steve Pike leading in the pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags, and Sharon Almquist introducing our guests.
Announcements:
*Uliana – informed that May is “Rotary Month” and that tomorrow will be a city proclamation given and that yard signs are available to be displayed in our front yards. Uliana also stated that Mikayla had emailed dues invoices yesterday.
*Diane Thompson – gave a Board report from their meeting of 4/28 and stated that there were 2 new members proposals for Jeremy Fults and Paula McGough.
*Kathryn Fuller – reminded members that Rotary goes home is the week of May 4th with no meeting at the Elegante on Wednesday 5/6. To schedule where you want to meet, go to “Sign Up Genius”.
*Jacques Gagne – announced that the Summer Reading program for Martin Elementary would take place on Tuesday,
May 5th at 9:45am.
*Robert Kocot – informed that in 2 weeks will be the Police Recognition Luncheon & tickets for providing lunches for officers were collected.
Diane Thompson introduced today’s speakers: students and employees of King Collegiate High School and Interact Club.
The Interact Club was praised for its consistent engagement and growth from 6 to 20 members. The club President, Annabelle, came to the podium to introduce the club officers & emphasized the team’s dedication to service and creativity. They have participated in projects such as “Fill a Pumpkin”, Breast Cancer Awareness, Butterfly Release with a local hospice, Fill a Stocking, Valentine’s Candy Grams and had 2 members attended RYLA. The incoming Interact president, Judith, shared how Interact has helped her grow self-confidence and to step forward to become more of a leader. Much appreciation was shared towards the Beaumont Rotary Club for their encouragement to Interact students, for treating them as valued partners and inspiring them to learn and move forward with their club.
Sharon Almquist was called forward to announce 2 scholarship recipients of $8,000.00 each. Jonathan Edgerly graduating from Veritas Academy, plans to attend Texas A&M University pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering.
The second recipient was Aldo Rodriguez from Bmt United HS, who plans to attend Lamar University majoring in Nursing with the goal of being a Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Aldo has already received credit for an Associate of Science degree from LIT, as well as EMT certification and other numerous awards. Aldo added that he not only lives the Service above Self motto for applications and such, but that he has grown up with that philosophy of treating everyone with dignity and care as he has volunteers informally with neighbors as well as with other organizations such as YMBL.
Upon completion of these inspiring and uplifting presentations, Uliana led in recitation of the 4-way test and adjourned the meeting. Reminder given that no meeting would be held at Elegante next Wednesday due to “Rotary Goes Home”.
