Meet the Newest Rotarians in the Club!
Five new Rotarians were welcomed into the Club on August 4, 2021. Please introduce yourself to these new Rotarians at the next meeting.
Meet the Operations Director at Advanced Pediatric Care, James Kersh. James has served on the Lumberton ISD Board for nine years where his three sons attended school. He has been President for the past five years. James recently started playing golf and has been a recreational pilot for 25 years. Why did he join Rotary? He says he did because he agrees with the mission, and as you might imagine, he is interested in working with our Youth Services lane.
You might think Joey Kressman has been a member for the past couple of months because he has been at meetings and playing an active role while waiting for New Member Orientation. Joey grew up in Sulphur, LA and moved to Texas in 1994. He and his wife, Laura, started the technology company, Kewl Technology Solutions, during the challenging time of 2020. He loves cooking and grilling, working on cars and playing golf.
A native of Nederland, Rebekah Patin, Financial Manager for the Jefferson County Auditors Office, has joined the club to be part of a group that values service above self and strives to make a positive impact in our community, but she is quick to add, "plus, I hear it is fun!" A proud veteran, Rebekah served in the US Marine Corps before graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BBA in Accounting from Lamar University. She and her husband, Jeremy, have one son who is in college. She loves hiking and reading.
Jacquetta Walker was born in Dayton, Ohio but Beaumont has been home for her large family of 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Director of Training and Marketing for Nance International, Jacquetta has also been an active volunteer with the Beaumont and Port Arthur Chambers, the Southeast Texas Food Bank, Girls Haven, Lifeshare Blood Center and the Seafarers Center of Beaumont. Her family and her faith are what she values most, and she enjoys listening to music and seeing theater productions.
A native of Dallas, Amy Wilson now finds herself living in Orange, learning about landscaping, tractors, and animals. She enjoyed visiting Rotary meetings with her husband, Jay, and decided to join after learning about the service work of the Club. Amy is a certified scuba diver with more than 25 dives all completed outside of the USA. A Science teacher at Nederland High School, adding Rotary to her busy schedule will be a challenge she welcomes.

“The Show Must Go On!"

After the "longest intermission ever," the Lutcher Theater for the Performing Arts is back with a 2021-22 line-up of quality productions being brought to the greater Southeast Texas area. Lynae Sanford, Managing Director of the Lutcher Theater, shared the upcoming season and discussed some of the challenges that arose due to COVID-19.
A native of Orange, Texas, Lynae attended Lamar University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication and Theater, with a minor in Education. She also earned her Master's Degree in Theater from Lamar University.
Lynae began her career in sales and marketing, but her passion for theater kept calling. Since August 2009, Lynae has served in various roles at the Lutcher and Stark Cultural Venues and stepped into the role of Managing Director in April 2017.
"Houston without the hassle," Lutcher prides itself for being "your home for Broadway." The local theater creates social opportunities, attracts tourists, and engages the community, Lynae said.
A 1,450 seat, state-of-the-art, world-class performing arts facility and the prominent presenter of Broadway for Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, the Lutcher Theater captures national and international tours, award-winning artists, renowned dance companies, and acclaimed children's performances. The theater is the largest performing arts series between Houston, TX and New Orleans, LA.
Since opening in 1980 with a sold-out Liberace performance, the Lutcher Theatre has continued to host only the best in world-class entertainment. Performing artists such as B.B. King, Kristin Chenoweth, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson and more have graced the stage with their talent.
When the COVID-19 pandemic presented itself in Southeast Texas, the doors to the Lutcher Theatre closed in March 2020. Soon after, the staff was forced to cancel not only the rest of the year's shows but the next year's line-up.
However, there's "no business like show business," and the Lutcher Theater is excited to once again bring showstopping talent to the area. Musicals including Hairspray, Fiddler on the Roof, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are coming to the stage as well as musical acts such as Asleep at the Wheel and CeCe Winans. Lynae showed a video of the upcoming season highlights. Lynae encourages Southeast Texans to think of the Lutcher Theater as theirs and as a cultural gem that we as a community share. Season packages are available and individual tickets will go on sale August 16th.
