Nearly every newscast and newspaper contains a story about a new threat to America's cyber security. As timely as this past week, we were advised by the FBI to reboot computer routers to protect against the very real threat of someone reaching into our personal space, stealing and violating us in ways we cannot understand. It is frightening how vulnerable we are to cyber attack. In his presentation, Ira Wilsker will discuss how to harden society to mitigate the threats and damage from such attacks.
Ira L. Wilsker is well-known for his knowledge of and expertise in the area of cyber security. He has taught at the Lamar Institute of Technology for forty-one years, and has traveled nationally and internationally presenting on cyber security and cyber threats.

DUES INVOICING AND THE BILLING CYCLE
Rotary operates financially at the club, district, and international levels. Dues, along with contributions to the Beaumont Rotary Foundation, support the work done at each level. Dues are billed to the individual at the club level, andthe club pays District and International dues on behalf of every member who is on the membership roster on January 1 and July 1.
In order for the club to pay dues to Rotary International on July 1, each member must be up to date on his/her dues to the Club no later than June 30, in advance of the July 1 assessment by Rotary International.
If your January 1 dues are still unpaid on Thursday, July 28, you will be terminated in bad-standing, meaning you are ineligible for membership in this or any other Rotary Club until your past due amount has been paid.
In order to make it as convenient as possible for you to submit a timely payment, the Board of Directors has requested that the invoices be sent to members 30-45 days in advance so that each member has adequate time to budget for the expense, process payment, and assure that the invoice is paid by July 1, 2018.
Electronic invoices will be sent Tuesday, June 5. If you requested to have a printed invoice mailed to you, it should be received within the week. Please phone the office or email admin@beaumontrotaryclub.org to request a different method of billing or payment. Members with a credit card on file will receive a receipt by email when your card has been charged or will be contacted if your credit card information needs to be updated.
If you wish, you can submit your credit card information to be kept on file so that payments are processed for you in advance of the deadline each time.
If you wish, you can make arrangements with the Executive Director to have your charge card processed for your dues in installments until the account is paid in full.

Rotary Goes to School to Stop the Summer Slide at Martin Elementary!
The final part of the puzzle fell into place today when a dozen or more Rotarians, and Rotary family member Patti Calhoun, went to Martin Elementary and had the wonderful experience of giving each first grader a bag of books to bring home so they can continue reading and learning better skills throughout the summer months.
Rotarians were able to witness the children's pure joy as each one opened his/her book bag and found 10 books that they chose last April. The students were eager to share with one another and show off their new collection. Rotarians mingled with them and let the children share their excitement.
Chair Matt McCallon instructed Rotarians to tell them to read and remember which book was their favorite. We hope to have a "return to Martin" party with these same students in early fall so the new second grade students can read their favorites to Rotarians!

Did You Earn Perfect Attendance?
It is always a very special day when we have the opportunity to recognize club members for contributions to the successes of the year. President Tim will present awards and recognition on June 26. He will also recognize those who have earned Perfect Attendance for the year either through meeting attendance, an eClub makeup, serving on and attending committee meetings, or attending a makeup event.
Did you submit a makeup for every meeting you missed? Do you know you can see your attendance report on the ClubRunner app? If you have not downloaded the CR app, do it now and/or get assistance at the next Rotary meeting.
As we assure that no one is omitted in the recognition process, please help us by reflecting on the year (July 2017-June 2018). "Moral Injury: The Hidden Wound of the Soldier's Soul"

Today’s speaker was Colonel Anthony Clark, Rector at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Beaumont. Colonel Clark is the Senior Chaplain for the Florida Army and Air National Guard. Colonel Clark was introduced by Dana Timaeus.
Col. Clark’s presentation was “ Moral Injury: the Hidden Wound of the Soldier’s Soul,” During his presentation, Colonel Clark used several clips from the movie “American Sniper," a film about Chris Kyle’s military journey which became a bestselling autobiography.
Col. Clark contrasted emotions expressed in Post-Traumatic Stress and Moral Injury, such as:

Healing a Soul Wound requires some, if not all, of the following:
• Do Not Medicate -> NO DRUGS! Drugs only address the symptoms, not the causes. • Utilization of a path of forgiveness • Recovery is a journey and is best achieved when accompanied with a trusted advisor or a faithful companion which could include equestrian and canine. • Serving others, ”A purpose beyond self”
Successful approaches include:
Letter writing
Utilization of the “ empty chair “ in counseling
Re-integration back to civilian life and civility is not an easy transition for our veterans.
