Pamela Wise received her Bachelors of Arts degree in English with teacher certification from Lamar University. She taught English for the Beaumont Independent School District before moving on to work for International Business Machines (IBM) as an Administrator, Site Manager, and Marketing representative. In 2005, Ms. Wise was hired as the Workforce Liaison, a position created by the board’s Business Services Committee to strengthen alliances with economic development entities, educators, and industry leaders. She is currently the Assistant Director of Communications. Her duties include business outreach, Public Information Officer, Rapid Response coordinator, podcast co-host, and writer/editor of JobBRIEF, the board’s electronic newsletter.
Pamela is blessed with two adult sons and six grandchildren she loves to spoil. She enjoys attending church, reading, sewing, and solving word puzzles.

On Wednesday, November 16, the Rotary Club of Beaumont will recognize and honor individuals who exemplify a "service above self" attitude in their vocation and daily work. The annual meeting when Rotarians recognize Vocational Excellence Award recipients is a wonderful time to applaud the good work of others in their chosen profession and in our community.
These coveted awards are given annually to community members who demonstrate exceptional service, honesty, and friendliness in performing their jobs. Some past recipients describe receiving this honor as "a treasure," "very special," and "the only time I've received anything like this." If you are observant when patronizing some local businesses, you will see a Vocational Excellence certificate awarded to a recipient in a previous year still hanging proudly where all can see.
We appreciate your nominations of deserving people who you have come in contact with through your business transactions. Now is the perfect way to say thank you to someone who demonstrated to you excellent service in the workplace. Please find a nomination form below; download it and return it to the Rotary office no later than Wednesday, November 2. The committee will review and make selection of those who will be honored and then will allow you the privilege of inviting them to attend the Rotary meeting on November 16 and introducing them to the members and guests.
Building beds is so much fun but delivering the completed bed to a child or several children in a household is so rewarding. On Saturday, November 19, 2022, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Beaumont will be delivering beds! Volunteers will meet at the assembly warehouse at 2950 Milam in Beaumont. Wear your "Rotarian at Work" shirt and be ready to work in a small team to make personal deliveries until around Noon.

"TxDOT Project Update"

Sarah Dupre began her update with the new safety program from TXDOT: “Help End the Streak TX”.
The program is focusing on stopping the daily deaths on Texas roadways. TXDOT specifically is focusing on safety measures on road projects encouraging drivers to slow down in work zones as well as other distractions such as talking on the phone, eating, or any other action that takes your eyes off the road and the hazards of the work zone for drivers and work crews. Safety measures need everyone on the road to do their part in paying attention, especially in work zones.
Projects in the area follow:
$21.7 million project on Hwy 69 between Home Depot to above Tractor Supply should be completed in 2023.
$31.5 million project in the area of St. Elizabeth should be completed by the Summer of 2023.
$2.6 million project in the Tyrrell Park/Walden Road area should be completed in 2023.
$871,000 project off 105 to Spurlock Road has a completion date of 2023.
$22 million project in the Lamar/Martin Luther King Parkway should be completed in 2024.
$306 million project involving the interchanges on Interstate 10 at Cardinal Drive and the interchange at IH-10 and 69/96. This project is set to begin in 2024.
In 2024 the Interstate 10 $279 Billion project between Winnie and Walden Road will be complete.
There were questions from members concerning several different areas. As one can see by the list of projects above, there is roadwork going on throughout the area to make our future roads safer for everyone. Through this time of disruption, please drive safely and be safe
