PROGRAM REVIEW
June 11, 2025
Greg Bostwick
Chief Meteorologist
By Tim Sudela and Joanne Brown
KFDM Chief Meteorologist Greg Bostwick, owner of ‘Bostwick Farms’, was introduced as guest speaker of the June 11, 2025 meeting of the Rotary Club of Beaumont by Past President Larry Beaulieu, 1988-1989. After completing his education in Meteorology at Texas A&M in 1979, Mr. Bostwick joined KFDM-TV to begin his 46 year career for the station. Although it is rare for a meteorologist to work for the same station for that long, it was announced that he recently signed an additional 2-year contract with KFDM-TV. In addition to speaking about tomato plants and flowers, Mr. Bostwick provided insight on the 2025 Hurricane season. He shared that the Atlantic hurricane season, which began on June 1, is expected to have 17 named storms and 9 hurricanes, 4 of which are expected to be major hurricanes. These figures are only slightly above the 1991-2000 averages. Mr. Bostwick also shared that predicting the path and the intensity of hurricanes continues to improve with technology advancements.
Serving at the Head Table were Chris Ayers, presenting the Invocation, Alan Hefty, leading pledges to the United States and Texas flags, and Becky Mason, Centennial Club President 2012-2013, who introduced meeting guests, including one visiting Rotarian, Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll. Uliana Trylowsky, President-Elect, introduced two new club members, Harley Swearingen, past Hardin County Rotary scholarship recipient, proposed by Kevin Reed, and Daniel Stark, proposed by past presidents James Broussard,1984-1985, and Rob Robertson, 1974.
In closing remarks, President Michael Perez thanked Rotarians for displaying Rotary signs in their yards during the month of May, and recognized Jay Wilson, Jr., Jay Wilson, Sr., Cheryl Bilyeu, and Dana Timaeus for their dedication to the Rotary Club of Beaumont Layette project in Honduras. Lastly, President Perez reminded members to contact co-chairs Lane Olson, and Past President Pat Anderson, 2015-2016, and to volunteer for flag distributions on Flag Day, June 14th. Meeting speaker on June 18 will be Gordon Williams, Lamar University Television Studio Operations Manager.
