July 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of the seminal decision by the US Supreme Court on allowing women in Rotary. In July 1987 Charles Shultz, the creator of the Peanuts cartoon strip drew a cartoon about women being permitted to join Rotary.

PROGRAM REVIEW
June 27, 2017
"A Toast to Ted"
Ted Moor, III
2016-17 President
by Chuck Heare
The "Toast to Ted" was held at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas Tuesday evening honoring Ted's service as President of the Rotary Club of Beaumont this past year. Most everyone wore plaid in honor of Ted, except for Ted – he had a white (?) shirt on. In fact, plaid was the theme of the evening.
A number of comments were made about what it means to wear plaid day after day. What kind of person wears plaid – ruddy outdoorsmen or people unable to draw a straight line or unable to lay a straight line of cinder blocks? Wearing plaid day after day was also said to cause blurred vision. Is it a good idea for people in insurance to wear plaid?
The audience was also treated to a short fun video to the tune of "Welcome to the Hotel Eleganté" by the Eagles, which featured a Tesla full of Rotarians singing and rocking to the music.
At the end of the program were a number of video clips of Rotarians thanking Ted for his service and his humor. Many of them remembered the highlights of Ted's year as president.
Ted then thanked all of the many Rotarians who helped out during the year and recognized Jacque with a Paul Harris Fellow for all of her help during the year. It was a fun evening of wine, beer, hor d'oeuvres and laughter. Well Plaid, Ted.
