I serve as the Growth & Special Initiatives Coordinator for Bob Hope School, a tuition-free public charter school serving more than 2,500 students across Southeast Texas and Houston area. In my role, I lead fundraising, community partnerships, grant development, marketing initiatives, and strategic growth efforts that expand educational opportunities for students and families.
I have helped secure significant philanthropic investments supporting academic programs, fine arts, and facility expansion. I am actively involved in advancing educational choice and sharing what our students and teachers accomplish each school year.
Beyond my professional work, I am the President Elect for the Nederland Rotary Club, I am on the board of directors for Nederland Chamber of Commerce, a fitness coach at MissFit Fitness, and Education Coordinator for BNI Unlimited Success.
I have been married to Stephen Hemelt for 19 years and a proud mother of two children, Dominick (18) and Mallory (16). Originally from New Orleans, LA and have lived in SETX since July 2019.
Beginning Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the Rotary Club of Beaumont has officially moved back to downtown Beaumont. We are excited to once again call the Neches Room our home.
Our return marks a celebration of our club's rich history while embracing the future. We're proud to be part of the continued renaissance of downtown Beaumont and look forward to welcoming members and guests to our new meeting location.

Rotarian Speakers
The Rotary Club of Beaumont welcomed members and guests for another informative meeting focused on service, community partnerships, and upcoming opportunities to make a difference. The club proudly introduced its newest member, Meg Brown, a nurse practitioner with Molina Healthcare and former president of the Rotary Club of Orangefield. Members also learned about several upcoming community events, including The Flamingo Art Show hosted by Laurel Lancaster, the Reaud Guest House Open House, the 10th Annual Golf Tournament benefiting veterans, first responders, and addiction recovery programs, and the Go for the Bell gala supporting children battling pediatric cancer and their families.
The meeting also highlighted the ongoing work of Children's Miracle Network and the impact local fundraising efforts have on pediatric healthcare throughout CHRISTUS Southeast Texas. Members heard about Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen on July 30, Panda Express' year-round fundraising program, and the upcoming Ace Hardware Bucket Days. Funds raised help provide specialized pediatric equipment, support Child Life services, and enhance care for young patients. Plans are also underway to offer Rotarians a tour of the CHRISTUS pediatric and NICU units to see firsthand how community support is making a difference.
Additional updates included information from Rebekah DeGarmo on the Rotary Global Grant Scholars program, which provides funding for qualified students pursuing graduate-level studies abroad, with applications due at the end of October. Members also received a preview of the World's Largest Polio Walk planned for October, an initiative uniting Rotary districts in the fight to eradicate polio. The meeting concluded with a reminder that next week's program will feature Candace Hemelt from Bob Hope School and with a few technical adjustments planned to improve the meeting experience for future gatherings.
