A May merger of roles has resulted in Michael Mustian assuming the role of ExxonMobil Beaumont Complex manager – combining both the Beaumont refinery and chemical plant leadership positions into one.

A Louisiana native, Mustian earned his chemical engineering degree from Louisiana Tech University before joining ExxonMobil in 2005 at the Beaumont Polyethylene Plant supporting the process safety department.

During his more than 17 years with the company, Mustian has held various positions of increasing responsibility both nationally and internationally and has served the company in multiple locations, including Houston, Baton Rouge, La., Sarnia, Canada, and Brussels. Before entering his new role as complex manager, Mustian served as the global Oxo Alcohols and Plasticizers marketing manager in Houston, and most recently plant manager for the Beaumont Chemical Plant.

The chemical plant produces building-block chemicals, such as ethylene and propylene, synthetic fluids and lubricant base-stocks, as well as more than 25 different types of zeolite catalyst.

The refinery produces premium and regular gasoline, low sulfur diesel fuel, jet fuel, liquid petroleum gases, fuel oil blendstock, petroleum coke and petroleum feedstocks and recently received its second consecutive U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR certification.
