Ever wish YOU had the opportunity to ring the opening bell at the meeting?
For a donation of $25 to the Beaumont Rotary Foundation, you will be allowed to do just that. You will be called up to ring the bell to start the meeting.
When he rings the bell to conclude the meeting, President Chad Blanchard will match your donation with another $25 donation to the Beaumont Rotary Foundation!

The club welcomed two new members recently. Pictured second from the left is Darlene Jackson who was proposed by Larry Beaulieu. Darlene is retired from Orange County Water Control, and is currently President of the Goodwill Industries Board.
The Club welcomed back returning member Ken Arola. Ken is owner of Arola Chiropractic & Acupuncture and was proposed by John Neely. (Friend Dan Jeans stood in for John on the day of introduction.)
It was a beautiful spring evening and The Grill was a perfect place for Rotarians and friends to gather for Rotary After Hours. Chairman Barry Bryant was pleased to welcome everyone for a relaxed and enjoyable event of fellowship and lively conversation.
The Rotary Club of Beaumont recognizes high school juniors and seniors who have exemplified the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self with outstanding records of volunteer service during the past year.
Area high school Juniors or Seniors who have assisted community activities, impacted social issues, or served with non-profit agencies are eligible for nomination by Rotary members. Emphasis should be on students who have made a significant difference through a volunteer service or activity of their own initiative -- preferably above and beyond church or school sponsored activities.
Award presentations will be made Wednesday, April 9, 2014, during the meeting to celebrate other Youth activities and programs. Please note that this is not a monetary award or scholarship, but recognition of exemplary volunteer service.
Lamar University Rotaract will be hosting a fundraiser and you can help! All you need to do is show up and purchase dinner. How simple is that? Be sure to place your receipt in a box labeled LU Rotaract and the club will receive a donation.

Reading time at Dishman Elementary was a “champion-size” treat for not only the students but also the following Rotary volunteers: Carol Eddins, Brenda Gray, Chad Mason, Patti McSpadden, Floyd McSpadden, and Cynthia Wolf.
First of all, we had fun because we witnessed the joy of the first graders at Dishman. The children were beaming when they claimed their books from Carol, Brenda, Chad, Patti, Floyd, and Cynthia. The students were so very excited to hear their names and to read them aloud and to go from page to page to page to explore their very own special books. They especially felt proud to be mentioned as a friend in a classmate’s book. They all just grew in confidence in our very brief time with them while also learning that a club of very special people known as Rotarians care enough about them to make the gift of books possible! Many shared that their brothers or sisters had the same book; others were surprised that they could take the books home…as their very own!
All of us on Rotary Team Dishman were welcomed in the Front Office by Cassy Reamy (Front Office Secretary “sub” and mother of a first grader) and Yoquita Wilson (Principal’s Secretary). And, we were all thanked following our Reading Time in the classrooms by Brandon Basinger (Principal), Rebecca Leger (Counselor), Carol Lopez (Attendance Clerk) and Cassy Reamy. The Staff could not have been any nicer or any more accommodating; and kudos to the five teachers who shared their classrooms of champion first grade students with us: Ms. Amy Coppage, Ms. Bonnie Croft, Ms. Linda Eddy, Ms. Nicole Hawthorne, and Ms. Tacie Lawrence!
Yes, Rotarians had fun at Dishman Elementary with Rotary’s I Like Me Project; and from the perspective of Rotary Team Dishman, there is more than enough evidence from the way that we were welcomed and thanked by adults and children to the incredibly positive messages in the classrooms and in the halls and as exemplified in the children themselves that Dishman Elementary lives its motto: “Striving to be a champion everyday in every way!” So many are making a difference at Dishman Elementary!
Thanks to Rotary Team Dishman for helping to make 87 Dishman first grade champions proud of who they are AND the proud owners of All About Me…a book that will encourage, motivate and mentor them to an even better tomorrow! It was the highlight of their day…and the highlight of the day of Rotary Team Dishman volunteers!
