Southeast Texas, internationally renowned for its role as a crucial player in the oil world, is a fervent breeding ground for the arts – generating a wealth of original, artistic genius of historical prominence throughout the twentieth century and into the present day. This session will explore the genesis of the early Golden Triangle art scene, highlighting pivotal figures, such as John Alexander, Katherine Green Baker, Patricia and David Cargill, Maudee Carron, Lorene David, Frank Gerrietts, Lilian Hayes, Herman Hugg, Jerry Newman, Will-Amelia Sterns Price, Robert Rogan, Richard Stout, Lynn Sweat and many others, recognized for their artistic facility and championship of the arts. Their admirable labors and artistic prowess assisted in establishing Southeast Texas as an integral component to the art historical legacy of the Lone Star state.
Sarah Beth Wilson joined the Art Museum of Southeast Texas in October 2014. Prior to this position, she worked at various art galleries in Houston, and taught art history with Lone Star Community College. She received her Bachelor of Arts in both art history and museum studies from Baylor University and attended Texas Christian University for graduate school, where she was awarded a full fellowship, travel grants and graduated with her Masters of Arts in art history. Wilson brings a wealth of art knowledge to AMSET, including curatorial, installation and research experience. As Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at AMSET, Wilson envisions, plans, researches and oversees museum exhibitions from their inception, manages the museum’s collection and curatorial staff, and performs numerous other curatorial duties.

DUES INVOICING AND THE BILLING CYCLE
Rotary operates financially at the club, district, and international levels. and dues support the work done at each level. Dues are billed to the individual at the club level, andthe club pays District and International dues on behalf of every member who is on the membership roster on January 1 and July 1.
In order for the club to pay dues to Rotary International and District 5910 on July 1, each member must be up to date on his/her dues to the Club no later than July 1 and January 1.
In order to make it as convenient as possible for you to submit a timely payment, the Board of Directors has requested that the invoices be sent to members 30-45 days in advance so that each member has adequate time to budget for the expense, process payment, and assure that the invoice is paid by July 1.
You should have received your invoice electronically on May 16. If you have requested to have a printed copy mailed to you, it should be received within the week. Please phone the office or email admin@beaumontrotaryclub.org to request a different method of billing or payment.
If you wish, you can submit your credit card information to be kept on file so that payments are processed for you in advance of the deadline.

Flag Project for Memorial Day
Monday, May 29 is Memorial Day. Rotarians will be engaged in flag distribution for "Show Your Colors!"
Please plan to volunteer to help again with this project. Join with other Rotarians and friends to make sure the flags are flying for our nearly 500 subscribers.
Please phone Pat Anderson at 782-4057 or Gary Moncla at 781-3778 to commit to join the effort and show Service Above Self. We will also need volunteers who own or can borrow a truck.

H.O.W. Center Fundraiser Also to Benefit Polio
While serving as Rotarian of the Day, Dan Jeans told of an upcoming fundraiser for his agency, the H.O.W. Center. They will be having the 2017 H.O.W. Center Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 10 at Bayou Din Golf Club.
In addition to helping the agency, the H.O.W. Board has decided to give a donation of 5% of their income FROM ANY ROTARIAN to The Rotary Foundation for End Polio Now! That's right! If you indicate you are a Rotarian, whether you are registering as an individual or a team, or agreeing to be a hole sponsor, they will give a 5% donation to End Polio Now! Splendid idea, and we are grateful. Register now and make sure you indicate you are a Rotarian.
Lynae Sanford from the Lutcher Theater in Orange visited Rotary. The Lutcher Theater is owned and operated by the Stark Foundation. Liberace was the first act in 1980 when the theater opened.
Each year, over 20,000 people visit the Lutcher Theater including children and patrons from all over the world. Having the Lutcher Theater in Southeast Texas is a real asset for the community as it is the largest performing arts theater between Houston and New Orleans.
The 2017-2018 series has 13 events that include The Symphony at Shangri La, Chicago, Cinderella, A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder, and 8 events for children. Please visit Lutcher.org for additional information on the upcoming season and consider purchasing tickets.
