The Rotary Club of Beaumont, TX, is a large and diverse fellowship of inspired business, professional, and civic leaders with significant community connections that foster the ideals of Service Above Self and high ethical standards.
Club Project Service Chair of the Rotary Club Lviv-International, Petro Chen, has agreed to join our Club meeting as our speaker virtually from his home in Ukraine.
Chen will discuss various projects undertaken by the Lviv Club since the Russian invasion on February 24th. Petro will specifically speak about the funds raised and sent by the Rotary Club of Beaumont to help the sister club in Ukraine to purchase medical supplies for several area hospitals.
By the time he speaks to the Club on Wednesday, Petro and the Ukraine Club will have received a second large donation from the Rotary Club of Beaumont to assist them with the purchase of a fire truck that is needed to assist the many volunteers of Lviv as they face the disasters created in the war-torn community. Thank you to the many members and friends of Rotary who have donated to this effort.
While Petro joins us on Zoom, we hope to have a full room of Rotarians and friends that he will be able to see as he shares information about his community and country, and the work of Rotarians, like us, in Lviv.

As their fight to protect Ukraine and the people of the country continues, members of the Rotary Club of Lviv, Ukraine have identified a need: to purchase a fire truck. We are excited to announce that Petro Chen, Project Chair for the Lviv Rotary Club, will be our speaker at the weekly meeting on Wednesday, July 13th. Come join us to hear him speak about the war and the Rotarians' efforts to save life and property in their war-torn country. We have sent the Lviv Rotary a donation of $8,500 towards the purchase of the fire truck but will be sending another donation of all collected to assist with transportation and shipping fees as well as other maintenance and upkeep of the life-saving equipment.

On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, instead of attending the weekly Rotary Club meeting, Rotarians will serve as base judges or switch operators for the 2022 World Series of Beep Baseball being held in Beaumont! Come join the fun! (Don't worry! The duties of each position will be explained to you.)
There are still open slots when help is needed. Sign up for a place or two or plan to spend the day! Volunteers will be given a t-shirt to wear so please indicate your size when signing up.
The Rotary Club of Beaumont was honored to welcome 2022-23 District Governor, Demetress Harrell, to speak and to install new members for the 2022-23 Rotary year. Demetress outlined her ideas and initiatives of how we will "Imagine Rotary!" (Rotary International President Jennifer Jones’s theme) for the year. Demetress has been passionate about Rotary since she joined in 1998 and is devoted to improving the quality of life for all concerned.
Demetress has worked at Hospice in the Pines since 1993, and served as Chief Executive Officer since 1998. Adhering to Rotary’s “Four Way Test,” she has constantly striven to do something special for people in hospices with a dedication to overcoming problems by providing safe, sustainable medical equipment. Demetress reflected on just how large Rotary is, 1.4 million Rotarians worldwide, and the number of flags presented at the recent Rotary International conference in Houston, especially the cheers for Ukraine’s flag. She noted and applauded our club’s effort to support Ukraine.
Demetress explained President Jones’s theme for the year, “Imagine Rotary!,” as well as the colors on the Rotary design, which was designed by President Jones’s brother. White was for peace worldwide, to enlighten the world. Demetress was a peace fellow and is committed to the Four Way test and service. Purple represents the commitment to eradicate Polio and Demetress remarked that we have never been so close to this goal. Green reflects efforts to protect the environment. Demetress encouraged Rotarians to share their stories about Rotary and grow membership; to give to the Rotary Foundation; to enhance the image of Rotary by posting pictures, writing articles/blogs; to go viral. Demetress urged Rotarians to live through Rotary, make connections, connect the dots through giving, granting, and growing.
Demetress is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a recent member of the Paul Harris Society, and a participant in the Rotary Legacy program. At the conclusion of her speech, Demetress installed incoming officers and directors and oversaw the traditional "Passing of the Gavel." After being installed, 2022-23 President Joanne Brown shared her vision by praising the uncommon people who are Rotary members; Rotarians are people who get things done. She discussed the ideals of service above self and the money raised to support the Lviv Rotary Club in Ukraine. She encouraged club members to truly "Imagine Rotary!

President Joanne Brown was installed on July 6, 2022, before Rotarians, family and friends. Her Installation Address was poignant, moving and challenging to those who gathered to see the changing of officers and passing of leadership.
