T. KELSEY LAMB, SR. AWARD FOR BUSINESS ETHICS
 
Nomination Information:  February 29, 2024 is the deadline for nominations. 
 
 
The T. Kelsey Lamb, Sr. Award for Business Ethics is presented annually to a Beaumont Rotarian who consistently exhibits the highest ethical standards represented by the Rotary Four-Way Test in his or her chosen vocation.  
 
T. Kelsey Lamb, Sr.
1942-43 President of the Rotary Club of Beaumont
 
The original criteria for the award explains:
  1. Nominees must be a member in good standing of the Rotary Club of Beaumont.
  2. Nominees will have exhibited high ethical standards in their chosen vocation arising from a specific incident or by their consistent actions over a period of time.  
First presented in 1996, the T. Kelsey Lamb, Sr. Award for Business Ethics has annually recognized some of the Club's outstanding members. In 2023, this prestigious honor was presented to Diane Bass.

An annual tradition since 1996, the Award is named in honor of the late T. Kelsey Lamb, Sr. who served as 1942-43 President of our club and as 1951-52 District Governor.  It is presented to a Beaumont Rotarian who consistently exhibits the highest ethical standards represented by the Rotary 4-Way Test in his or her chosen profession.

Rotary Has Heart
Club Service Day

Sharon Almquist introduced the Club’s Service Day “Rotary Has a Heart”. Members packed layette bags and helped non-profit organizations put together packets for promotional purposes.

The Layette Bags started as an international project to assist a women’s hospital in Nicaragua that helped women after childbirth. There was no room in the hospital for them to stay any amount of time. The program began as a project by other clubs and we then joined the project in 2011 when we were able to contact the club in Nicaragua. Vernon Pierce was the first Club President to initiate the project into a regular meeting, rather than an after-hours program which was first held at the Beaumont Club.

When the political atmosphere in Nicaragua changed, Rotary was unable to gain access to the facility. Dana Timaeus was able to make a connection with the Rotary Club of Roatán in Honduras to provide the layette bags to women in Roatán. Uliana wrote the Rotary District Grant that matched our Foundation’s contribution to the project. Lynn Hill contacted non-profit organizations to assist in promotional project and Debra Drago set up the tables for the club members to work. MiKayla picked up the bags and all the items for the layette bags.

Sharon thanked everyone from the podium in the ROTARY HAS A HEART EFFORT. This day is a member-wide project work day.
