Dr. Belinda George is a proud U.S. Army veteran and a purpose-driven leader whose life speaks to the power of faith, service, and resilience. While serving as a public school principal, Dr. George created Tucked in Tuesdays, a virtual bedtime story initiative that went viral and gained national attention—leading to appearances on The Steve Harvey Show, Strahan and Sara, and more.
Dr. George currently serves as the Director of the Spindletop Boomtown Museum, where she leads efforts to preserve and promote Southeast Texas history while engaging diverse communities through education and outreach. She is also the founder and CEO of a values-driven consulting firm, specializing in leadership development, strategic planning, and educational equity. In every space she enters, she brings her deep expertise in education, nonprofit leadership, and faith-based advocacy.
She is a champion for underserved families, particularly those classified as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), and continues to empower others through her work in education, leadership, and faith-rooted community action.

WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S
Please mark your calendars to join us on Saturday, October 4th for the Walk to End Alzheimer's at the Great Lawn at the Event Center located at 700 Crockett St. We will have a booth again this year and there is the option again this year to walk the 1 mile or the 3 mile course.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's is held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide and is the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.
Since 1989, the Alzheimer’s Association mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk® ; now the Alzheimer's Association is continuing to lead the way with Walk to End Alzheimer's.
While there is no fee to register for Walk, all participants are encouraged to raise critical funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support and advance research toward methods of prevention, treatment and, ultimately, a cure.

Program Review: Josh Davis
On Wednesday, September 10, the Rotary Club of Beaumont’s noon meeting was called to order by Club President, Uliana Trylowsky. Serving at the head table this week were: James Guzman, providing the invocation, Misty Fountain, leading the pledges to our flags, and Cicely Moore, introducing our guests.
Announcements were made about flags being put out in the community for Patriot Day on September 11. President Uliana also announced the upcoming Fire Appreciation Day on Wednesday, October 22 and mentioned the committee is still looking for people to do a ride along with the fire department. The Rotary Club office will be moving to the Foundation for Southeast Texas building, effective October 1.
Steve Shoemaker discussed an upcoming service project with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. On Saturday, September 13, our local Sleep in Heavenly Peace will participate in Bunks Across America. This annual event for Sleep in Heavenly Peace aims to build over 10,000 beds, and our local chapter has set a goal of building one hundred beds. Steve reminded the group that you do not have to have any carpentry skills to volunteer. He mentioned that those who have signed up will get an email to complete the waiver form, but that if you are available, just show up. They will meet at 10:30am and build beds until around 2:00pm.
Stephanie Harris made an announcement about Wine Down With Rotary. Currently, there have been twenty-four tickets sold, so we need to start selling tickets for this event. Tickets can be purchased online or by visiting the table after the Rotary meeting. Stephanie also mentioned that we also need an additional seventy-five bottles of wine for the wine pull. Wine should be valued at $20 minimum and if you are not sure of what wine to buy, you can also donate the money, and the committee will purchase the wine on your behalf. Stephanie closed with needing raffle items for the event, so if you or your business would like to donate a raffle item, let Stephanie know.
Jamie Strawther introduced Chelseas Tipton, our speaker for this week. Chelsea is the Conductor for the Symphony of Southeast Texas. He focused his presentation on the upcoming season for the Symphony of Southeast Texas. This will be the 73rd season for the Symphony and this season is called Symphonic Odyssey. He explained each of the shows, which range from Hispanic heritage to pop and acrobatics to holiday classics to Beethoven. This season has a show for everyone! He also covered the education initiatives of the Symphony of Southeast Texas, which brings the symphony into the schools. Various sections of the orchestra go into the schools for short educational programs leading up to a concert hosted for the schools. In closing, he mentioned that although this is their 73rd season, the Symphony of Southeast Texas is already gearing up for its 75th season with plans to make it big and bold.
President Uliana announced a club donation to Rotary International in honor of the speaker for the benefit of supporting basic education and literacy.
Next week, Wednesday, September 17, Dr. Belinda George with Spindletop Boomtown Museum will be the speaker.
