Annual Meeting for Election on December 7
On December 7, the membership will elect four Rotarians to serve on the Club's Board of Directors and one new trustee for the Beaumont Rotary Foundation for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2017.
Of the eight nominees for the Board, Rotarians will vote for up to four. Of the three nominees for the Foundation, Rotarians will vote for one. There will be place for write in candidates and nominations will be accepted from the floor at the meeting on December 7.

THIS EVENING, November 21: DONE IN A DAY PROJECT
Time to step up to the plate again! Almost literally! This quarter's service project, to be "Done in a Day," is an opportunity to help those who rely on delivery of meals from Nutrition and Service for Seniors.
When holidays make it impossible for volunteers to deliver hot meals to home-bound clients of the non-profit, they plan ahead and deliver a shelf-stable box dinner that will meet nutritional needs of those they serve.
Rotarians are needed to assemble as many box dinners as possible in advance of the two major holiday periods ahead.
Plan to come and help; drop by after leaving work and give an hour or two of your time. You are certain to enjoy your Thanksgiving lunch a good deal more knowing you helped provide a meal to someone else. (You do not have to be signed up to attend but it will help us to know how many people to expect.)

The Holiday Party will be Tuesday, December 13 at the Lamar University Reception Center, Mary & John Gray Library, 8th Floor. Social will begin at 6:00, followed by dinner at 6:30 and an entertaining program. Tickets will be $50 per person and are on sale now through the online reservations (click here). Of course, you may also make your reservations and purchase tickets at any upcoming meeting.
As is the tradition, the President Nominee will be announced on this special occasion. Mark your calendar now for this "don't miss" event to celebrate the holiday with your Rotary friends!

Congratulations to Newest Blue Badges!
The music returned on Wednesday and it was for two Rotary University graduates: Mahdi Safa and Brandon Spears! Serenaded by Rotarians led by Dean Lynn Castle, the song "Take me off the Red Badge!" (tune of "Take Me Out to the Ballpark") brought smiles and hearty congratulations to the two newest Blue Badges. Great work, Mahdi and Brandon!

Welcome, Little TWO!
Rotarian Welcomes Twin Granddaughters!
Kathleen Alsup and husband, Mark, welcomed two adorable granddaughters last week. Erin, who weighed 4 lbs., 13 oz., was described as "very active and alert." The first born, Heather, weighed 5 lbs 6 oz., and is doing well. Congratulations to everyone!

"The Texas Game Warden's Many Roles"

Texas State Game Warden
After twenty-four years of service as a Texas Game Warden, Mike Boone has just about seen it all, and has a sense of humor that serves him well in his job. His presentation about serious law enforcement reflected his enjoyment of his work.
Mike has been stationed in Hardin County for his entire career, but very often finds himself working in Jefferson, Orange and Liberty counties. He described the authority of a Game Warden as that of any other law enforcement officer.
In a very casual and relaxed manner, Warden Boone told stories and answered questions about the law, some of his experiences, and reflected on his most notable case - the apprehension of an individual that killed two whooping cranes in Jefferson County.
He told of his distinguished, albeit brief, experience as a television personality on "Lone Star Law" on Animal Planet.
With this year's deer season just recently open, we look forward to having Mike come again and share some new stories.
