DUES INVOICING AND THE BILLING CYCLE
Rotary operates financially at the club, district, and international levels and dues support the work done at each level. Dues are billed to the individual at the club level, andthe club pays District and International dues on behalf of every member who is on the membership roster on January 1 and July 1.
In order for the club to pay dues to Rotary International and District 5910 on July 1, each member must be up to date on his/her dues to the Club no later than July 1 and January 1.
In order to make it as convenient as possible for you to submit a timely payment, the Board of Directors has requested that the invoices be sent to members 30-45 days in advance so that each member has adequate time to budget for the expense, process payment, and assure that the invoice is paid by July 1.
You should have received your invoice electronically on May 16. If you have requested to have a printed copy mailed to you, it should be received within the week. Please phone the office or email admin@beaumontrotaryclub.org to request a different method of billing or payment.
If you wish, you can submit your credit card information to be kept on file so that payments are processed for you in advance of the deadline.

H.O.W. Center Fundraiser Also to Benefit Polio
While serving as Rotarian of the Day, Dan Jeans told of an upcoming fundraiser for his agency, the H.O.W. Center. They will be having the 2017 H.O.W. Center Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 10 at Bayou Din Golf Club.
In addition to helping the agency, the H.O.W. Board has decided to give a donation of 5% of their income FROM ANY ROTARIAN to The Rotary Foundation for End Polio Now! That's right! If you indicate you are a Rotarian, whether you are registering as an individual or a team, or agreeing to be a hole sponsor, they will give a 5% donation to End Polio Now! Splendid idea, and we are grateful. Register now and make sure you indicate you are a Rotarian.
It is always a very special day when we have the opportunity to recognize club members for contributions to the successes of the year. President Ted will present awards and recognition on June 27. He will also recognize those who have earned Perfect Attendance for the year either through meeting attendance, and eClub makeup, serving on and attending committee meetings, or attending a makeup event.

With a very large number of Rotarians attending, the monthly Rotary After Hours event on Thursday, May 25 was a very enjoyable evening!
Kathy Bachelot, Bobbie Applegate, and Craig Hatcher served as hosts for the evening, and guests enjoyed a specially prepared appetizer buffet and beverages in the beautiful setting of The Laurels.
Laughter filled the beautiful room and outdoor patio, and no one seemed to want the evening to end! Thank you to all our hosts, and especially to Kathy who so graciously opened her facility to us.

"Golden Triangle Greats: A History of the Arts in Southeast Texas"

Sarah Beth Wilson, Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) was our guest speaker today. She began by explaining how the oil industry in our area provided jobs and sufficient wealth to support a strong interest in the arts during the early 20th century in Southeast Texas.
Out of this interest and support grew a large number of local artists who have become renowned in Texas and beyond. She discussed the formation of the Beaumont Women's Club in the 30's that began sponsoring art exhibits and collecting art works. Out of this initial effort grew the Beaumont Art League and the Beaumont Art Museum and finally the Art Museum of Southeast Texas.
The list is long of artists who lived here or were born here, taught in local schools or worked on developing their style and technique. Some were sculptors (D. Cargill), many were painters (P. Cargill, Green-Baker, Price, Hayes, Alexander, Stout, Sweat, Carron, David, Hayes and Gerrietts. This list really just scratches the surface.
Another critical part of the local art scene was and is the Lamar Art Department, which was significantly influenced by Jerry Newman's service for over 40 years. The Golden Triangle really does have a rich history in the arts. She encourages all to visit AMSET frequently to enjoy the works on display.
