MEMORIAL RESOLUTION WAS PRESENTED
Since the earliest days of the Rotary Club of Beaumont, it has been a tradition to record the passing of a member into Club history with the writing of a Memorial Resolution to document his/her service and contributions. The reading of the Resolution is an opportunity to reflect on the good deeds and significant impact the Rotarian had on the Club and the community. The formally printed document is given to the family members, added to the Club's archives, and entered into the records of the Tyrrell Historical Library.
On October 7, the Rotary Club of Beaumont gathered to recognize and celebrate the life of former Rotarian Evelyn Lord.
Evelyn passed away on December 13, 2024. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside her.
The Giving Field is hosting a special Farm-to-Dinner event October 15–17, and they need volunteers to help make it a success! The Rotary Club of Beaumont is looking for Rotarians who are willing to lend a hand and serve our community.
There are several ways to get involved, including:
-Serving Tables – Help guests during the Farm-to-Dinner event and make sure everyone has a great experience.
-Working in the Garden – Help with gardening and preparation at The Giving Field.
Whether you can volunteer for a few hours or help with multiple shifts, they would appreciate it!
We’d love to have a strong showing from the Rotary Club of Beaumont! Sign up to volunteer and invite a fellow Rotarian to join you.
Thank you for helping Rotary Serve to Change Lives!

Brenda Weber
Wife of a Congressman
The Rotary Club of Beaumont meeting opened with an invocation by Michael Perez, followed by the pledges of allegiance. Terry Potter introduced guests, and Bobby Applegate presented a memorial resolution honoring Evelyn Marlin Lord for her distinguished service to Rotary and the Beaumont community. The club celebrated Robert Robertson’s 90th birthday with a special group rendition of “Happy Birthday” and announced that the Rotary Chorus would begin rehearsals for the upcoming holiday party. Members also received updates on the Crime Stoppers gun raffle, the upcoming Wind Down with Rotary fundraiser, and plans for the district governor-elect’s installation in June.
Brenda Weber, wife of Congressman Randy Weber, served as the guest speaker and shared personal experiences of life as a congressional spouse. She discussed the flexibility required to balance family responsibilities with the demands of public service, highlighting the differences between life in Washington, D.C., and Texas. She also spoke candidly about the challenges of navigating rumors, political scrutiny, and death threats while remaining committed to family and faith. Through personal stories and reflections, she offered members a glimpse into the realities of supporting a spouse in public office.
Brenda shared memorable experiences involving visits to the White House and interactions with prominent political figures, emphasizing that public figures are people just like everyone else. She also discussed efforts to support Southeast Texas following Hurricane Harvey, including delivering water to Beaumont and working across party lines to secure disaster relief assistance. Additionally, she highlighted Congressman Weber’s efforts to obtain federal funding for the district, including support for the Sabine-Neches Waterway and Lamar University. Her remarks underscored the importance of collaboration, perseverance, and maintaining personal values while serving the community.
The meeting concluded with a discussion of the Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund and its role in supporting district grants and local service projects, including the club’s layette program. Members were encouraged to contribute to the Annual Fund and the End Polio Society to help sustain Rotary’s charitable initiatives. Announcements also included opportunities to donate wine and raffle items, purchase tickets, and volunteer for upcoming events. The meeting closed with the recitation of the Four-Way Test, reinforcing Rotary’s commitment to service, integrity, and goodwill.
