District 5910 Governor
Gig Langston
Gig Langston became the 2016-17 District 5910 Governor on July 1 and began making visits to each of the District Clubs on July 6. He started with his own club, Angelina. This week he and his wife, Lou, will travel to Beaumont when he will meet with the Board of Directors and Officers on Tuesday evening and then will be the guest speaker at the Rotary meeting on Wednesday.
District Governor Gig is a second generation Rotarian and has served as president of his club for two terms and held numerous District 5910 positions through the years. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Paul Harris Society.
Come hear the message delivered from Rotary International President John Germ and be inspired by his address to our Club.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Club President Ted Moor will adjourn the meeting to an abbreviated Club Assembly so that Rotarians will have the opportunity to visit with some of the committee chairs and get involved with a one or more of the Club's projects or committees.

WHAT'S AHEAD!
On July 20, Paul Szuch, President Emeritus of Lamar Institute of Technology, will reflect back on his ten-year history at LIT and the legacy he is leaving there and in the Beaumont community as he begins retirement in Florida.
On July 27, we will welcome back a speaker from Cheniere Energy to update us on the progress of the LNG facility in Sabine Pass. The spokesperson will have lots to share as an update since we first learned about the project in 2013.

It's NOT too late to choose how you want to be involved! Say "Yes, I'll serve!"when you are asked to be a part of a committee or project in 2016-17.
Incoming President Ted Moor has recruited chairs for nearly every committee for the new year. Those Chairs will be asking for you to serve with them in some way in the new year. Please say "Yes!"
Ted also has a printed copy of a list of committees that you can complete to indicate where and how you would like to serve. Please don't be shy and wait to be asked. Raise your hand and join in "Rotary - Beyond the Meetings!" by completing the survey at the next meeting.

We send a huge thank you to Rotarian Chad Mason for the multitude of stage production duties he did behind the scenes to make the Swan Song for Pat Anderson so awesome! Chad made signs, brought equipment, provided sound and visual equipment, did the videoing and much more. It was his job to make the actors look good and perform well. (Sigh!) He did his best with them but was an awesome producer! Thanks, Chad, we couldn't have done it without you!
We also thank Larry Beaulieufor the loan of his keyboard, and Craig Escamillawho played the concluding song so patriotically!

Installation of President Ted Moor

Chuck Mason presided over the installation of the Board Officers, Board of Directors, and our New Club President, Ted Moor. During the installation Past President Chuck spoke of the need of all the members to be part of the club in service of Rotary. He pointed to the various vocations of all members as a point of understanding the kind of resources that are available to our club.

After the passing of the gavel by all Past Presidents at the meeting, President Ted took the podium with the statement that Chuck has stolen his material. But that was not the case as members soon found out. After thanking the club for the many projects that the club has completed, Ted had ten points to invigorate members with ideas for his year and the future.
Now is the time to begin a search and plan for a large project for the club, citing the success of the Playground.
The club needs to activate more members and reach out for ideas
Meetings this year will illustrate projects that are going on around the world of Rotary International.
The Finance Committee is hereby charged to look for a means of supporting “scholarships” for members who may not necessarily have the means to join the club but whose visions are compatible with the service of Rotary.
Have the Finance Committee study and make a recommendation to the Board to add a new ticket option for members to have the option to purchase a ticket for coffee and dessert at a cost of between $5 and $7.
Grow the wine tasting event that Pat Anderson started.
Raise additional funds through the sale of Rotary shirts with the Rotary logo on the front and the back reading “52 weeks until Tim Sudela is President”. (Great one, Ted!)
Look for funds to send a club member or two to see an international project being accomplished.
Michael Perez has been charged to assist in ideas to bring back members whose absences are noted.
Charged each member to think of what they would say to explain to someone what Rotary is about.
There are over 1.2 million members in 34,000 clubs with business leaders all over the world. That is what makes Rotary so strong locally and internationally.
