We are really looking forward to March 8, when Rotarians Denise Berry and Jay Wilson tell about the experiences they had while traveling to Nicaragua with the team of Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Tulsa. They will be visiting villages and rural areas to check on water wells in use provided by Rotarians through the years and determine future places to dig.

Request for Children of Nicaragua
Two representatives from our club, Denise Berry and Jay Wilson, will be going with the Tulsa team to Nicaragua in a few weeks to observe and learn about the multi-district water well project.
The team would like to bring gifts to the children of the area. The Tulsa delegation is bringing lots of baseballs donated by a minor league team in their city because the children love playing catch. However, they have no gloves. If you have a new or used baseball or softball glove you can donate, please bring it to Rotary before Wednesday, February 22. You can be certain it will bring a smile to a child's face in Nicaragua.

Rotarians:"Get Your Red On!
The Lamar University Rotaract Club is participating in a student organization challenge at the March 1st LU Women's Basketball game at 7:00 pm in the Montagne Center. They are inviting Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Beaumont to join them at this fun event and "Get your red on!" Please come support the University, the women's basketball team, and the Lamar Rotaract Club at this specially designated game!
The competition is to determine which organization is the loudest and most spirited. The 1st place winner will receive $500! More importantly, this is an exciting opportunity for the Rotary and Rotaract members to interact and enjoy the game together!

Rotary Has Heart
and Gives a Day of Service

Several years ago, when Vernon Pierce served as President of the club, he designed the first ever Rotary Has Heart! Service Day of the Rotary Club of Beaumont. His idea was to bring the opportunity to serve to every Rotarian by making a day of service work possible at the regular weekly meeting. It worked in the initial year and has continued to be a day that is eagerly anticipated. Service Day 2017 was another successful day with fun and laughter, all while working together to complete projects for local organizations and 150 layettes for women and children in Nicaragua.
