The T. Kelsey Lamb, Sr. Award for Business Ethics is presented annually to a Beaumont Rotarian who consistently exhibits the highest ethical standards represented by the Rotary Four-Way Test in his or her chosen vocation.

The original criteria for the award explains:
Nominees must be a member in good standing of the Rotary Club of Beaumont.
Nominees will have exhibited high ethical standards in their chosen vocation arising from a specific incident or by their consistent actions over a period of time.
First presented in 1996, the T. Kelsey Lamb, Sr. Award for Business Ethics has annually recognized some of the Club's outstanding members. In 2021, this prestigious honor was presented to Randy Shelton.
President Cindy Cherry presented the T. Kelsey Lamb, Sr. Award for Business Ethics to 2021 recipient Randy Shelton.
An annual tradition since 1996, the Award is named in honor of the late T. Kelsey Lamb, Sr. who served as 1942-43 President of our club and as 1951-52 District Governor. It is presented to a Beaumont Rotarian who consistently exhibits the highest ethical standards represented by the Rotary 4-Way Test in his or her chosen profession.

Our Club will award the coveted honor at the March 23rd meeting, according to this year's chairman, Craig Escamilla. The deadline for submitting a nomination is Friday, February 25nd.
On Saturday, February 19, members of the Rotary Club of Beaumont were joined by the Rotary Club of Port Arthur, 100 Black Men of Greater Beaumont, Lamar University Rotaract Club, and Helping Hands (student organization from Lamar University) to deliver and setup 82 beds for children in our community.
This service project coordinated by Service Co-Chair, John Lee, helped support the mission of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. SHP believes that all children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. There were dozens of volunteers involved who helped make this effort a huge success.
Look at the many photos taken by volunteers and you are guaranteed to smile as you can quickly see the happiness and joy of each child and teenager, but also that of the volunteers who were a part of making a dream come true.

CHARLEE RULE
Owner, iRule Dance Studio
“More than dance- building character, diversity, competitiveness, generosity, excellence and a sense of family”

On February 16, 2022, Rotarians were honored to have CharLee Hanna-Rule, owner of the iRule Dance Studio, as guest speaker. A native of Southeast Texas and graduate of Lamar University, Charlee grew up dancing in Beaumont. Through the years, CharLee’s dancing career flourished. Nonetheless, to her dismay, she noticed extreme racism, elitism, and exclusivity in the dance world. After returning home for a dancing reunion, CharLee was disappointed once again to find that the racism and elitism she observed while dancing in Southeast Texas in her youth was still present.
Committed to creating a dancing environment of inclusiveness and diversity, ChaLee and her husband, Mark, with the help of her parents, founded iRule Dance Studio in Beaumont. It has expanded from a 400 square foot room with few dancers to a large facility with more than 200 dancers and which operates as non-profit so the studio can expand into the Southeast Texas community. CharLee emotionally shared two iRule success stories—that of Xavier Richmond and AJ Joubert. Both young Black men, AJ struggling with obesity and Xavier struggling to fit in, were welcomed by CharLee to the iRule studio, which forever changed all of their lives for the better.
CharLee’s dancers have worked their way into National recognition. They have earned more than 50 National titles and, after a recent social media post by CharLee for Black History Month went viral, they were featured on the Ellen Degeneres show for their efforts in combating racism and elitism.
The video clip beautifully showcases how CharLee intends to change the world for the better.
Rotary could not have asked for a more inspiring and heartwarming guest than CharLee and the iRule staff. Her grit and determination to combat the racism, elitism, and exclusivity present in the dance world is extraordinary. We wish her the best in all her endeavors.
