Georgine Guillory grew up in a military family. Her parents were from Louisiana and they wanted their children to help others and educate themselves, hopefully with a college degree. They did not have the same advantage as they graduated the 8th grade, but they had leadership capabilities that gave them many opportunities, including instilling helping others in their children.

Her mother was a beautiful woman who took care of the home and encouraged her children to be the best they could be. Her father served in the Korean War and he had many opportunities to learn during his military time. After 32 years, he retired and began his own business in the construction industry. His constant work ethic and personal help for others instilled those same traits in Georgine. She remembers people coming by the house at all hours in need of food, money and household items. Her parents never turned them down and as a young girl, Georgine, felt her life was interrupted by these people. But as she matured, she realized that she was being taught something very basic: help uplift others and it will help the community as a whole.

Georgine’s leadership abilities were instilled in her by her father. At the end of high school, she informed him that she was ready to start her own business. He thought maybe she should educate herself first on how to run a business. She received her bachelor’s degree from Lamar University. She did educate herself and started her full-service beauty salon business, Revues. She graduated from Leadership Beaumont in 2002, and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee, LU Alumni Board and the Julie Rogers Gift of Life. Presently she works as Catholic Charities Resource Coordinator.

She applied for a vacancy on the Port of Beaumont in 2003 and received the job. From 2007-2020 she served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Board. She is the only woman on the Port Board. She was elected as Port Commissioner in 2021 and has overseen port expansion. She views this position as a way of giving back to the community. She has traveled to Washington DC to work on grants for the port. On one trip to DC, she devised a plan to honor women in Beaumont by establishing Pioneering Women. That organization has assisted over 200 women to finish their college education. Through her leadership roles she has sought to uplift women.

One port grant concerned the shipment of rice from Istanbul and she traveled there to see the process. At the time she was there, she was unable to view the area due to the unstable situation in that part of the country.

The Port has expanded and is one of the 4th busiest ports in the U S. On port property there is a truck-queuing station as well as an energy company. The Port and Beaumont have definitely been favored by Georgine’s leadership.
