Volunteers needed to deliver flags for Independence Day, July 4, 2025. Please contact Pat Anderson (409) 782-4057 for more information and to sign up. This is our biggest fundraiser and the funds help literacy projects with children at Martin Elementary, provide college scholarships, host high school educational opportunities like RYLA, and support numerous other projects benefitting our community and mankind through Rotary International.
Mr. Gordon Williams, Lamar University Television Studio Operations Manager, was introduced as guest speaker of the June 18, 2025 meeting of the Rotary Club of Beaumont by President-Elect Uliana Trylowsky. Mr. Williams is an award-winning content creator whose projects have screened at over seventy film festivals and earned distribution deals from Amazon Video and Shorts Internationals. He is a board member of Boomtown Film Festival, the Center for Culture and History of Southeast Texas and the Upper Gulf Coast, and an advisor for the Jefferson County Historical Commision. In June 2023, Mr. Williams received special congressional recognition from United States Representative Brian Babin for his work in sharing Beaumont's Black history via short film, "The Example" and documentary, "They Will Talk About Us: The Charlton-Pollard Story".
Welcoming guests and fellow Rotarians at the door were Ruby Leday and John Rollins. Serving at the Head Table were Mary Pat Jones, presenting the invocation, Diane Bass, leading pledges to the United States and Texas flags, and John Lee, introducing meeting guests including visiting Rotarian Rebecca Woodland from the Spindletop Club. Jennifer Gregory served as meeting photographer, Jacques Gagne and Jeff Beavor supervised the Finance Table and Larry Beaulieu supervised Technology.
Uliana Trylowsky, President-Elect, introduced new club member Sarah Hardin, Arc of Greater Beaumont, proposed by Sheree Pierce. Phil Dunlap, Rotary Club of Beaumont Foundation Board President, presented four Paul Harris Fellow recognitions (PHF) to John Lee PHF+3, Dr. Victor Zaloom PHF+3, Alan Hefty PHF+4, and Michael Wolf PHF+5. Mr. Dunlap then presented a surprise Paul Harris Fellow to Lynn Hill from Rebekah Maxwell, Past-President 2023-2024.
In closing remarks President Michael Perez acknowledged meeting speaker Gordon WIlliams with a donation to Rotary International in the category of Community Development. President Perez also reminded Rotarians to review two meeting flyers from President-Elect Uliana Trylowsky, the "Rotary Club Health Check over the past 12 months" survey, and Committee Service in 2025-26 sign-up sheet. President Perez thanked Rotarians who distributed Show Your Colors Flag Day flags on June 14th, and reminded members to sign up for July 4th distributions.
