Roy West is a lifelong Texan, cut from cloth that is Spindletop-stained, he was born & bred in Beaumont. Married to Trisha, together they share five adult children, three Son-in-laws, two daughters-in-law, and 11 ridiculously cute grandchildren Hadley, Everlee, Buffalo, Saddler, Brees, Hazel, Chance, Murphy, Holton and Noah.
Roy bleeds Cardinal red, graduating from Lamar University with an undergraduate degree before attaining his masters at Southern Methodist University.
After graduating from Lamar University, Roy swore an oath to serve & protect as a Houston Police officer in the crime-ridden 1980's before returning to his beloved Beaumont.
Before getting into the mortgage business, Roy co-founded Patriot Security, a home-security company which is still making Southeast Texas a safer place to live & work.
After getting out of the home security business to pursue ministry, Roy's path took another prosperous turn when he entered the mortgage industry in 2004. After building a team of distinguished mortgage experts, Roy became a multi-million- dollar producer.
With over 30 years of experience as a small business-owner, along with serving the public as a police officer, Roy's personal philosophy is simple yet powerful; "People deserve to be treated well." The success attained in his professional life is a combination of expertise consisting of team-first management-mentality, innovative marketing, and genuine customer-service.
Roy's commitment to the community, his family, and his faith have paid dividends in many forms.
In addition to the mortgage business, Roy is the host of an award-winning radio show, “The Roy West Show”, which airs every Sunday on News Talk 560 KLVI. The program has been recognized with several awards in the “Talk Show” category by the Press Club of Southeast Texas. You can hear it locally on the largest AM radio station in Southeast Texas, KLVI or stream it worldwide on iHeart Radio. Roy also has a popular podcast that features Southeast Texas talent & flavor, heard on KLVI.com, iHeart, Spotify, Apple Podcast, and other streaming platforms. Most active on Sunday mornings, Roy can be seen across Beaumont whether he worships at different churches or at Praise Church, where he often serves as an usher. He believes it is important to give back to the local churches, the community, and non-profits. Roy is proud to have served on charitable boards and be affiliated with several local community organizations; Gift of life, American Cancer Society, Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas, The Foundation of Southeast Texas, American Red Cross, RSVP of the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission, Beaumont Board of Realtors, Some Other Place, Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Mentor/Mentee Committee, and as a Business Partner with Beaumont Independent School District
Roy West was first elected Mayor of the City of Beaumont in May 2023 and re-elected on Saturday, June 7th, 2025.

The Rotary Club of Beaumont is pleased to announce its scholarship to be awarded to two high school students graduating in 2026 as well as one scholarship to Lamar Institute of Technology for a non traditional student.
The application must be completed by all students wishing to be considered for a Rotary Club of Beaumont Scholarship. The Scholarship Committee will review all applications and recommend to the Board those two students whose academic success, leadership potential, and community service activities demonstrate a commitment to “Service Above Self.”

The T. Kelsey Lamb, Sr. Award for Business Ethics is presented annually to a Beaumont Rotarian who consistently exhibits the highest ethical standards represented by the Rotary Four-Way Test in his or her chosen vocation.

As part of the Subaru Loves the Earth® initiative, JK Subaru is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to give our community trees that are ready to be planted, free of charge. Planting a tree helps cool neighborhoods, improve air and water, and create habitat for wildlife. A variety of regionally appropriate trees will be available for you to choose from to enhance the beauty of our surroundings while making an impact on the environment. We are partnering with them to help distribute these trees, and we would love if you would reserve a tree to have them planted locally!
President Uliana Trylowsky presided over this Rotary Club meeting where she introduced Mellie Bevilaqua who led the invocation, Tyler Gustafson who led the pledges, and Nate Jennings, who presented the guests. President Uliana acknowledged recent achievements, including Rebecca Maxwell DeGarmo's wedding and Tyler Gustafson's win in a dance competition.
Diane Thompson, club secretary, presented two new member proposals, including Michael Campbell from Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas and Uvie Bikomo, a newspaper editor for The Beaumont Enterprise. She also announced Kaitlin Bain's resignation. Jay Wilson discussed the club's giving to the Rotary Foundation, noting a decline in per capita donations and urging members to set up automatic monthly contributions to polio and the annual fund to increase overall giving. The club was invited, by Steve Shoemaker, to participate in a tree distribution event organized by JK Subaru and the Arbor Day Foundation on March 27th.
President Uliana announced several upcoming events, including International Women's Day on March 11th, and recognizing the T. Kelsey Lamb Senior Award for Business Ethics on March 25th. Floyd McSpadden encouraged attendees to submit nominations for the award by March 13th.
Cole Mychalk, Community and Government Affairs Advisor for Woodside Energy, introduced the company's global operations and its recent acquisitions, including the Beaumont Pneumonia Project. He also discussed Woodside's Louisiana LNG project, highlighting its significance in the company's strategy to become a global LNG powerhouse.
Woodside acquired the OCI Clean Ammonia Project in Beaumont for $2.35 billion in September 2024, positioning them as the first producer of lower carbon ammonia globally. The facility, which produces 1.1 million tons of ammonia annually with potential for expansion, will use carbon capture technology from ExxonMobil and Linde to achieve 95% CO2 capture.
Brad Collier, with 25 years of operations experience, was introduced as the plant director who will oversee the facility's transition to Woodside operations in the coming month. The project, which recently achieved first production, will create approximately 180 permanent jobs and serve domestic, European, and Asian Pacific markets with low-carbon ammonia for power generation, marine bunkering, and as a hydrogen carrier.
