Title: Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday

The history of America is a fascinating story filled with valuable life lessons that can make anyone’s life much richer and more meaningful. That message is especially timely with our nation’s 250th anniversary right around the corner.

Our speaker for January 28 is Randolph G. Russell. He is the author of American History in No Time, a quick and easy read for the basics every citizen should know, young and old alike. The book has been used at a number of colleges, but even children can understand it.

Russell’s presentations have been enjoyed by more than a hundred Rotary clubs from Orlando to Kansas City to Las Vegas. In addition to his expertise in history, the author is an accomplished musician who, when he was younger, performed in many European countries and throughout the United States. In business, he held several financial management positions with companies in Florida and Georgia. He holds degrees from the University of Miami and the University of Florida.

The Rotary Club of Beaumont is pleased to announce its scholarship to be awarded to two high school students graduating in 2026.

The application must be completed by all students wishing to be considered for a Rotary Club of Beaumont Scholarship. The Scholarship Committee will review all applications and recommend to the Board those two students whose academic success, leadership potential, and community service activities demonstrate a commitment to “Service Above Self.”

Specific requirements can be found on the application which is available through the link below.

Deadline for application is March 2nd, 2026. Only applications that are completed and received by the deadline will be considered. A copy of this application is available HERE.

We will be assembling layette bags as a service project for expecting and new mothers in Honduras. A sign-up link will be provided for one-hour volunteer shifts that will be happening February 12, 2026.

Volunteers in the early shifts will help open boxes, sort items, and organize supplies into groups. Volunteers in the later shifts will assemble the items into layette bags and prepare them for shipment.

The meeting was led by President Uliana Trylowsky and began with brief announcements before transitioning into a tribute honoring the life and 20 years of service of Past President Joe Domino, whose dedication to Rotary and the Beaumont community was recognized with reflection and gratitude.

The program featured a Rotarian of the Day, Lee Potter, who introduced the Junior League of Beaumont, who shared details about their upcoming “Dancing with the Stars” fundraiser on February 20.

Members also received updates on an upcoming Rotary Has Heart project scheduled for February 11 which will feature local nonprofits who can bring a project for Rotarians to complete. February 12 will be the day to assemble the layette bags.

The final presentation highlighted the Fire Museum of Texas, where coordinator Dana Edgar shared the museum’s mission, recent achievements, and future plans. The presentation emphasized the museum’s expanding educational outreach, including enhancements to its children’s fire safety and STEM-focused learning programs. Rotarians and guests also learned that the largest fire hydrant is a working fire hydrant where visitors can experience this during a visit. Members were encouraged to support the museum by visiting, engaging with their online platforms, and spreading awareness.

The meeting concluded with reminders about next week’s speaker, Randolph Russell, and ongoing opportunities for service and community support.
