Recent club community service at the Rescue Mission and Metro Caring
On Valentine's Day Barb and Kellie volunteered at Denver Rescue Mission, keeping an RPCV tradition alive. This year they were at a new location, as DRM has acquired some other warehouses to make temporary shelters so guests can be more spread out. This Sunday was the day after a blizzard so most people stayed in for lunch as well, serving McRib sandwiches donated from McDonald's to about 350 individuals!

April 3rd Garrett, Amanda, Anne, Bri and Kellie helped with a Cherry Creek Rotary Club/Metro Caring project portioning dry food goods into bags for families. They were in a warehouse again, spread out with partners so was a good chance to socialize while getting important work done. It was nice outside so afterwards we went to a nearby brewery and sat on the patio soaking in the sun.

For June 19, the club thought we could join with another RPCV group in Northern Colorado (or maybe just one guy Mark) who has spearheaded a highway cleanup every summer for years. It is picking up trash on the Poudre the highway next to the Poudre River.  Here's the details we know at this point: "Orange trash bags and vests will be provided to all volunteers. The clean up area extends from MP 100-102 or just above the narrows. Normally we meet at Ted's Place (Conoco station @ Hwy 287 and 14) around 0700 and then either carpool (or single cars as needed) to a small parking lot @ MP 101. Clean up can be done in one hour with just a few people. Afterwards I like to hike up the hill and check out the view of the Poudre Canyon." I'll be in touch with him about possibly meeting after 7 AM since we have to drive a ways too, and there are also great breweries in Fort Collins to check out after as well!
