l-r: President Tom Ashcraft, RI Foundation Chair Jon Northrop, PDG George Mendenhall
The Rotary International Foundation recognized the estate of Susan Mendenhall, late wife of PDG George Mendenhall, with a beautiful crystal plaque for her bequest contribution of $5,000.00. Long a supporter of the Rotary Foundation as well as our own Littleton Rotary Foundation, the Mendenhall’s generosity has helped make Littleton Rotary a far more significant movement for community improvement than it might otherwise have been.
Sue always supported George as he served Littleton Rotary as Club Secretary, Club President in 1979-80, and as District Governor in 1983-84 when the District encompassed most of Colorado, a good share of Wyoming, and a small portion of western Nebraska. At that time it was designated as District 545. George’s year as District Governor set a benchmark for District governance and management that this writer has yet to see exceeded. Those of us who attended can attest that the District Conference he put together in 1984 was the largest, most impressive, inspirational, and entertaining of any to date.
George continues to be an inspiration to Rotarians in Littleton and throughout the Rotary world.
