JOURNEY TO ZIMBABWE - BRINGING HOPE TO THE ORPHANS

Deanna Heyn is a Colorado native who works as a Human Resources consultant to government and non-profit organizations throughout Colorado.  About 13 years ago, Deanna was visiting a church in Castle Rock, New Hope Presbyterian, where she heard Ralph and Roberta Pippitt speaking.  They were speaking about the work they were doing in Zimbabwe to help local schools and orphans in a rural community north east of the capital City of Harare.  Ralph was a long time Rotarian and in the early years of the work in Zimbabwe (late 1990/early 2000), many boreholes were drilled with support of Rotary.  Around 2005, the primary focus changed to helping the orphans in the community.  Upon hearing Ralph and Roberts’s story, Deanna quickly developed a passion for Zimbabwe and the orphan population that was largely a result of the HIV/Aids epidemic. She first visited Zimbabwe in 2010, and has now been there 5 times, most recently in July 2019.
