Abbas Rajabi, an American by choice, grew up in Hamadan, Iran in a large family. His passion for education brought him to the United States where he pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas in Arlington. After working at several large companies, Abbas decided that his entrepreneurial spirit was too strong to deny. He began several small businesses in Texas, South Carolina and then Colorado while also building a family. Most recently, he is the founder and president of Mohegan Capital, a private real estate investment fund specializing in value-add and income producing industrial real estate.

Abbas is a very proud Denver Southeast Rotarian; he believes Rotary is the most prestigious Service, Philanthropic and Networking organization ever. Abbas has a great passion for service. As tragedies erupted around the world, he channeled the power of his Rotary family to help those in need. His passion for education inspired him to create “Pencils for Peace” - a program that gave school supplies to Afghan children. Abbas along with his Rotary friends were involved in remodeling numerous orphanages in Mexico as well as the coordination and execution of a trip to Thailand to help victims of the 2004 Tsunami. After the 9/11 attacks in 2001, Abbas arranged a fundraiser to benefit the brave NYFD firefighters and took a check to the New York City Rotary club. At the height of the housing crisis in the United States, Abbas coordinated the efforts of Rotarians and volunteers to help families in Denver’s east Colfax area motels buy much needed food and gifts during the holiday season. When Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy and the tornados in Joplin, Missouri happened, Abbas was quick to organize his club and the Rotary District  to help those in need. Most recently Abbas served on the District’s Flood Relief Committee, fundraising for victims of the 2013 Boulder flood. In 2002-2003 he was named District 5450’s Rotarian of the Year, and remains a committed Rotarian after more than 25 years.

Abbas is married to Sami Rajabi who he met in Iran while in high school. Their first big adventure together was when Sami joined Abbas in the United States over 44 years ago. She is involved in their businesses, and uses her financial acumen and passion to help ensure a successful family business.

Sami and Abbas are proud of their four very accomplished children; a journalist and mother, a lawyer and volunteer firefighter, a physician at Harvard, and a post-doctoral fellow at U of Penn Annenberg School.  All of the Rajabi's children are also Paul Harris Fellows. They have two grandchildren who bring them great joy. Aside from time with family, Abbas and Sami love spending what time they may have dreaming about  traveling, reading, boating, watching films, grilling on the back deck and hosting their friends for fun, food, and fellowship!

Claire Mattoon is the Programming and Outreach Librarian and Aging Well Resource Center Program Coordinator for the Bemis Public Library in Littleton.  Born and raised on the North Front Range of Colorado, she has always had a passion for books, reading, and libraries.  A Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Denver has allowed her to earn money for the time she would be spending at the public library anyway.  She has been at Bemis Public Library for four years, working with teenagers, adults, and seniors, focusing on providing programs and events to engage and inform the community.  Her passion for sharing knowledge and resources can't be contained in just four walls, so it's a good thing that her job now calls for her to go out into the community, and bring the library to the people!

Question:  What do Lance Armstrong, Chris Christie and Vladimir Putin have in common?

Answer:  Traci Brown’s revealed their secrets to the world.

And she’s told the world what they’re not saying. NBC, CBS and Fox have asked this body language expert to reveal secrets hidden in plain sight.  And she can help your team reveal the secrets your clients are keeping from you that are impacting your bottom line.

In her fast paced, interactive programs that are sure to entertain, Traci teaches lie, fraud and identity theft detection she’s used to get to the truth in billion dollar business deals, crimes and politics.

Traci is not only a master lie detector,  she’s a persuasion expert.  Her persuasion system landed her a  lucrative product deal with Kevin Harrington, a Shark from ABC’s hit show Shark Tank and took her on a wild ride to the big time consumer markets of TV shopping channels, infomercials and beyond.

You’ll be able to immediately use the same tools to create more success in your own organization and personal life…so you see more  zeroes (before the decimal) in your bank account.

Traci has even adapted the skills to talk herself out of an embarrassing number of traffic tickets.   She’ll teach you how to do it, too!

After her fast paced, interactive programs that are sure to entertain, you’ll be able to immediately use the same tools to create more success in your own organization and personal life…so you see more  zeroes (before the decimal) in your bank account.

Traci is a Three Time US Collegiate Cycling Champion and former member of Team USA. Yeah, she’s fast on 2 wheels and looks pretty good in spandex. And just ask her how she used body language to win bike races.  Yep, it’s true.

She is the past president of the National Speaker’s Association Colorado Chapter and the author of four books, How to Detect Lies, Fraud and Identity TheftPersuasion PointBody Language Confidential and Body Language for Profits.

She lives in Boulder CO with her rocket scientist husband and her Siberian Husky.

We're pleased to have Jeffco Deputy Sheriff, Brad Herman, Jr. join us to present a new program for business owners and leaders called the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Business Academy.

Brad tells us, "I am a Colorado native, married for 21 years with two children, one in college, the other in high school.  I grew up in southwest Denver/Jefferson County, graduating from John F Kennedy high school, and attended the Colorado School of Mines.

I have been a Deputy Sheriff with the Sheriff’s Office for 10 years, spending 5 years in Detentions, 5 years in Patrol, and recently in Public Affairs/Crime Prevention.

Our 1st Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Business Academy was held in October.  The academy offered business leaders and owners proactive information concerning theft, fraud, active shooters, and site security assessments, all at no charge."

Jim Rohrer, our District Visioning Chair, has developed a program to help clubs identify their strengths and areas where improvement is possible. Growing Stronger Together gives club members an opportunity to complete an anonymous four question survey to see what aspects of the club the members consider to be strengths or non-strengths.

The idea is to utilize the results of the survey as a logical starting point for some new club initiatives. Jim presented the program and survey to Carbon Valley Rotary in September – the club had a 92% participation rate. Sixty-five percent of the members said they joined Rotary as an opportunity for service, and while the club does focus a majority of efforts on community service, many survey comments noted a lack of true community impact. Club President Beverly Mendel stated “the survey results were a real “eye-opener” and members and the board have already had several brainstorming sessions including the possibility of varying meeting times and surveying the three towns about community needs.”

My name is Alexa Nofsinger. I recently graduated from Western State Colorado University with a double Bachelors degree in Business and Psychology. I am getting my graduate certification in Multi Media Journalism and then want to get my Masters in marketing and eventually work for a travel/adventure magazine. In my free time I love to explore the mountains with my dog either by foot or by jeep, practice photography, spend time at the gym, and write on my blog.

I've been to 13 countries in the last five years. I travel because I am curious to see what kinds of landscapes, cultures, foods, and people are all over the world. My last trip was to Peru with a Utah based company called CHOICE. I chose to venture with CHOICE not only because it gave me an opportunity to experience another beautiful country, but also because I wanted my next trip after studying abroad to be for someone else and not for myself.

Always one of the most enjoyable and informative programs Littleton Rotary has, Classification Talks are short, ten minute talks by newer members that tell their stories. In this case, two newer members, and one "experienced" member, Past President Mark Swanson. From where they grew up, to their education, careers, families, interests and more, club members learn much about their newest friends and fellow Rotarians. All club members are encouraged to attend and make welcome these great additions to our Rotary Family.
