Rotary Weekly Update
Our program this week will be presented by long-time Rotarian and friend of the club David Shirley. David will speak on Rotary's efforts to purchase and deploy Shelter Boxes.
The board is recommending a new membership type for the club, providing a "service membership" for members who are not able to attend meetings but do want to be involved in service projects.
 
Adding this membership type requires an amendment of our bylaws. You can find a draft of the revised bylaws below, along with the current club bylaws. All changes are in Article 11, Membership. We will vote on approving these bylaw changes at our club assembly on May 14.

As we get closer to the new Rotary year, the board is looking for members who will serve as committee chairs. We are currently looking for:
  • Program chair
  • Membership chair or co-chair
  • International projects chair or co-chair
  • Club service chair
  • Marketing chair
  • Fundraising co-chair
  • Interact chair or co-chair
If you are interested in any of those positions, please talk with Ariel or Melissa!
 
The Norman Sports Commission is looking for volunteers to assist with the Maverick Criterium, a two-day bicycling event happening May 31-June 1 in downtown Norman.
 
Upcoming events:
  • Non-Rotarian of the Year award: June 5
  • Installation of new officers: June 11
 
Membership goal progress:
  • District: Started at 1019; currently at 1036
  • Club: Started at 43; currently at 42
