Cody said volunteers are needed to block intersections so runners don't get hit by a bus. He said T-Shirts would be passed out at the May 17 meeting. Cody thanked Steve Clark and Waste Connections for stepping up and being the run's lone Platinum Level Sponsor.

Gary McNatt was Rotarian of the Day. He introduced Dr. Terry Wood, a holistic veterinarian from Mustang, as our guest speaker.

A native of South Dakota and graduate of the Iowa State University vet school, Dr. Wood moved to Oklahoma after he practiced a few years in Chicago and decided he didn't like Chicago. He owns the Mustang Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Woods practices holistic animal medicine. A holistic veterinarian is one who treats the “whole animal”.

Wood said many of the traditional treatments mask the pain and don't cure the animal's illness.

He said many animal illnesses can be attributed to food allergies and cured by monitoring and changing the animal's diet. He cited several anecdotes of successes.

He also uses minerals in some cases instead of prescribing dangerous drugs.

Among his other techniques is use of photonics red light therapy.

Wood said holistic medicine has an Eastern influence.

"In the West, function follows form; Eastern philosophy is form follows function.

He said the model of traditional medicine is broken and needs to be fixed.

The meeting adjourned after recitation of the Rotary 4-Way Test.
