Scott Beller of Air Supply Products of Oklahoma City was our guest speaker and told us about geothermal heating and cooling.
The April 7, 2011 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha came to order followed by the prayer, pledge and song. Rotarians were reminded about the district conference April 14-16 in Norman. Guests included visiting Rotarian Harry Meister of Bricktown OKC club. Prospective members include Steven Clark, Stewart Fairburn, Phillip Went and Tia Murray. Ron Sanders reviewed the Rotary Club's 53-53 beat down of the Kiwanis Club in Monday night's Rotary-Kiwanis benefit basketball game for the Chickasha Public School Foundation. Jerry Pittman announced that video snippets of the game could be found on the club's website chickasharotary.org. President Mark read a thank you note from the Chickasha Band Parents Association thanking the club for a $350 contribution to help buy a refrigerator for the band concessions at CHS football games. Rotarian of the Day was Ron Sanders who introduced Seth DeHart of DeHart air conditioning who introduced Scott Beller of Air Supply Products of Oklahoma City. Beller's company is a ClimateMaster distributor and specializes in commercial heating and air conditioning units, especially geothermal units. Beller said geothermal units were more expenses than conventional heating and cooling units but were eligible for huge tax credits and reduced utility bills that put them on a level playing field with the congenital units. He said geothermal heating and cooling uses the relatively constant temperature of the earth to heat and cool homes and businesses with 40% to 70% less energy than conventional systems. He said wells are drilled and water piped through the ground, taking advantage of the constant temperature. DeHart said the new Bill Wallace Early Childhood Center in Chickasha was utilizing geothermal heating and counting and would result in substantial energy savings for the school district. Tickets were distributed for the May 14 Crab and Shrimp boil. Shrimp tickets remain at $15 but crabs are now $20. A no-refund policy has been implemented. Please explain to those who buy tickets that if their shrimp and/or crab isn't picked up on May 14 they can't get a refund. A signup sheet for volunteers was also circulated. Rotary Day Run T-shirts are available. The meeting closed with the recitation of the Rotary Club 4-Way test.
