Members of the Rotary Exhange team from Italy visited many Chickasha institutions and business, including HSI Sensing. The group was hosted by the Rotary Club of Chickasha from Saturday, April 20 until Wednesday, April 24.

The Italians visited many Chickasha institutions and business, including HSI Sensing. A Rotary Exchange team from Italywas hosted by the Rotary Club of Chickasha from Saturday, April 20 until Wednesday, April 24.
The Italians visted many Chickasha institutions and business, including HSI Sensing, City Hal and the Sports complex. They also took in some baseball and attended the Harlem Ambassadors basketball game on their last night in Chickasha. They stayed at the Alumni House on the campus of USAO, where they met with Drs. John Feaver and Dex Marble.
During their stay in Chickasha, they dined in the homes of Rotarians as well as some of the area's celebrated eateries such as Ken's Steakhouse.
Several Rotarians talked about their experiences hosting the Italians, including President Cody White, Ron Sanders, Elmer Kuntz, Michael Oberlender, John Jernagin, Larry Brown, Stewart Fairburn, Greg Elliott and Dr. Michael Neliegh.
Chris Mosley was Rotarian of the Day and introduced Becky Gillenwater of Cardinal Health as our guest speaker.
She talked about a prescription drug abuse awareness program sponsored by Liberty Drug of Chickasha.
2.1 million Americans abuse prescription drugs. Oklahoma is No. 1 abuse of prescription drugs. The abuse and the problems it causes costs the state about $7.2 billion annually.
Gillenwater said a scary trend is pill parties held by teens where they pop prescription pills, most of which were taken from medicine cabinets of relatives. She said 1 of every 5 teens has taken drugs not prescribed for them.
Oklahoma has a prescription drug disposal program. Each county has a white box where old, unused prescription drugs can been deposited and destroyed properly. In Grady County, the box is located at the Grady County Jail.
Don't flush old pills down the drain because some of the chemicals don't break down easily and can make their way to the water table. If you throw away the pills, put them in a sealed plastic bag contained cat littler and/or coffee grounds which help the pills decomposed more quickly.
After the program, President Cody White presented a donation from the Club to representatives of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
