The July 26, 2018 Chickasha Rotary Club meeting was called to order by VP Gerron Smith.  The prayer was led by Rot. Tom Rose and the pledge by Rot. Cody White.  Rot. Mitch Williams led the song "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang in honor of KOOL 105.5 being the speaker.  Catering was provided by Rock Island Grill. 
 
The Rotarian of the Day was Michael Oberlender who presented George Plummer with KOOL 105.5.

George Plummer is the news and sports director, and a marketing consultant for KOOL 105.5 and 106.1, The Ranch radio stations (which are a part of Mollman Media).  He's worked in the media industry for about 35 years, working in both the radio and newspaper sectors - both in Duncan and in Anadarko.
 
George spent five years as the managing editor of the Chickasha Daily Express when Charles Drew was the publisher, and together they led the team at the paper in publishing a special Centennial edition for Chickasha's 100th birthday.  Several copies of those newspapers are included in the Centennial vault buried in front of the Grady County Courthouse.
 
He was honored at the State Capital for his excellence in journalism for his coverage of the Grady County Conservation District and the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts.  George has broadcast hundreds of high school sporting events, and has called state championship games in football, baseball, softball, basketball, and soccer.  He's also covered many Grady County High School basketball tournaments, and is a two-time winner of awards from the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association.  George has also been the Public Address Announcer for USAO basketball games.
 
He and his wife, Louse, have been married for 35 years and is known as "The Voice of Grady County".
