Derek Allen was inducted in the Rotary Club of Chickasha by President Greg and given his Rotary Pin by sponsor Tom Rose at the 11-14-2013 meeting.

The Nov. 14, 2013 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha opened with a prayer, pledge and song.
Guests include Scott Kinada.
Prayer concerns included Rotarian Jim Glaze and Don Pittman, father of Jerry Pittman.
President Greg Elliott determined through a show of hands that enough members would be able to attend a meeting the day after Christmas, Dec. 26. There will be a meeting that day. There will be no meeting on Thanksgiving Day Thursday, Nov. 28.
Derek Allen is the newest member of the Rotary Club of Chickasha. He was inducted by President Greg and given his Rotary Pin by sponsor Tom Rose, his grandfather. Derek works for the Bank Verden and is the son of Rotarian Jim (Auto) Allen and nephew of Rotarian John Allen.
Rotarians are reminded to sell tickets for the John Deere Gator giveaway. The drawing will be at the annual Christmas Party on Dec. 12. Each Rotarian is responsible for selling a minimum of 5 tickets. Proceeds will go to the Chickasha Community Theatre and the Southwest Youth and Family Services Angel project.
Shanna Rice of Southwest Youth and Family spoke briefly about what the Rotary donation will help accomplish.
“The Angel Project’s goal is to infusesome joy and hope in children during the season,” she said.  “It takes about about $10,000 to provide for the basic needs and wishes for children whose families are in desperate financial situations.”
Guest speaker at the meeting was Chickhasha High Basketball Coach Christy Edelen, who was high school star at Verden and played collegiately at UCO. Her husband is superintendent of Pioneer Schools and Christy has been CHS head coach for four years.
The Lady Chicks, 13-13 last year, have two seniors, three juniors, four sophomores and 11 freshman on the 2013-2014 roster.
Leading scoring Dominique Golightly returns for her sophomore season. Last year, Golightly and her teammates almost advanced to the state tournament, falling in the consolation finals. On Senior Night, Chickasha upset top-ranked Shawnee.
The Lady Chicks open the season Dec. 5 at the Millwood. The home opener is Dec. 10. That will be Coaches vs. Cancer “Pink Out” Night to call attention to cancer.
On Dec. 17 will be Orange Night in support of Superintendent Jim Glaze, who is battling cancer.
The Chicks will play in their own tournament in January.
Edelen said Chickasha is the second smallest school in 5A and plays in a very tough conference that includes Carl Albert and Shawnee but she is optimistic her Lady Chicks can continue to improve.
The meeting adjourned after recitation of the Rotary 4-Way test.
