Our guest speaker at the 10-12-2012 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha was Thomas Hannon, excutive director of the Chickasha Opportunity Workshop.


The Oct. 18, 2012 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha came to order after prayer, pledge and songs.

Prayer concerns include Bill & Janice McVey.

Raffle tickets of $5 each are being sold to raise money at our December Christmas Party. An all-in-one computer and a new Ipad3 will be given away. Also, see Ann Manchester if you have an item for the silent auction.

Our guest speaker was Thomas Hannon, executive director of the Chickasha Opportunity Workshop, which has been serving clients for 50 years which makes it the second or 3rd oldest such facility in the state.

Diverse group of teachers and professionals make up the board that focuses on the workshop's needs, wants and purpose.

Workshop clients do work for Green Bay Packaging, HSI sensing and Goodwill. There are currently 50 people in the program, 7 of which are non-funded. 

"We are proud we leave our doors open to all," Hannon said. "The disabled are often the last to get benefits and the last to have rights."

He said their is a waiting list to be served by the workshop.
