Rotarian of the Day was David Hall Jr. who introduced his younger brother, Dr. Mark Hall as our guest speaker. Mark is pastor of First Baptist Church, Sterling, OK, and a member of the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma.

The 350 member strong Baptist men's choir was formed in 1960. There is also a Singing Churchladies of Oklahoma group that has about 450 members, divided into East and West groups.

The Churchmen perform one concert a month somewhere in Oklahoma. The closest men's concert to Chickasha will be in May in Oklahoma City. The Churchladies will be in concert in April at First Baptist Church, Chickasha.

Mark said the Churchmen perform a diverse range of music including classics, contemporary worship songs, spirituals and gospel songs.

On some of their overseas trips they must sing secular music and are introduced as the Singing Men of Oklahoma because of religious intolerance. They also try to sing a song or two in the language of the host country.

The Churchmen have performed concerts in Tokyo, China, Spain, Russia, Israel, Australia and Armenia.

Next year, they will travel to Sochi, Russia to sing during the Winter Olympics. Cost of the trip will be about $4500 per person. Donations welcome.

The meeting ended with recitation of the Rotary 4-Way Test.
