Rotary Rocket - September 22nd, 2011
Ray Mariano, previous Worcester Mayor and current director of the Worcester Housing Authority explained his new work or learn program!
Ray Mariano introduced his concept of Work or Learn to try to change the generational public housing issues in Worcester.
Instead of just managing a broken system of welfare, Ray chooses to lead and attempt innovate solutions to solve the root of poverty, not just the symptoms.
Thanks also to Fred Dowling, former Worcester Rotarian that donated $300 to the Service Fund.
Nice to see him after his move to Nashville with his cowboy hat!
Also - was great to see Ken Harling bring three Assumption Students that will be working on the marketing of the 100 year celebration too!
Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the three students, BUT, I have a picture taken at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry of the Rotary Club meeting in the early 1900's.
Thanks to Gary MacConnell and Bob Johnson for serving at the Salvation Army dinner last Sunday.
Finally, please try to attend next week's (Sept 29th) Club Assembly meeting where we will finalize plans to celebrate the 100 year anniversary.
A tentative meeting agenda will be coming out by Monday.
