Kate Moody was recognized for her many years of dedicated service to our club with a certificate of appreciation and a standing ovation.

Members Chris Crowley, Chuck Houston, and Ed Hall all offer their thanks to Kate for all her hard work.

President Satya Mitra introduced our speaker, Jen Roy, former local TV news anchor. She made a dynamic presentation in which she described how she began her new business, "Jen Roy PR." This is a boutique public relations firm that provides a wide range of services from standard PR to video production. She described a number of projects her firm has successfully promoted, one of which played a part in wooing Jet Blue to come to Worcester. President Satya reminded everyone of Worcester Rotary's upcoming special meeting this Thursday July 25, which will begin at 11:30. At this meeting, our new officers will be installed, and the new District Governor, Doug Detweiler, will be our speaker. Among our special guests will be the Mayor of Worcester, Mr. Joseph Petty, and the Worcester City Manager, Mr. Michael O'Brien. We have had a tremendous response, and over 130 people have made reservations so far.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on July 25th.

Rotary Board Meeting Minutes, July 18, 2013

President Satya Mitra called the meeting to order at 11:46 AM.

Members Present were: Dan Vinton, Francis J. Doherty, Ed Hall, Chester Caswell., Gary MacConnell, Mary Valentine Callahan, Ronald Frasier, Timothy McGee, Don Deprez, H. Lee Bishop, David Frazier, Elaine Doherty, and Mimi Payton

The first item on the agenda was to determine where we stand financially. Bob Mangan and Lee Bishop will present an update at the next Board) meeting.

They have been working on the transfer of responsibilities and completing a review of the audit. We are up to date with the auditors and the Club's three corporations are in good standing.

It was agreed that the Club will hold an assembly on August 29th, without a speaker.

Satya noted there is much wisdom in the club and hoped that we will perform community action programs and not just donate money. Satya would like us to come up with ideas that would unite people who want to be of help to and do something for the community.Our goal would be to let the community know we want to work with them.

Satyr has invited many leaders in the community to attend the installation on July 25th, and 70 have already committed to attend, including the mayor and the city manager of Worcester. Bringing in these new people will bring in different ideas and perspectives, a different touch, he said.

Copies of the program were circulated, which give detailed information on the timing and events of the day, including the guest of honor and speaker,

Douglas J. Detweiler, Governor of Rotary District 7910, and his wife Ingrid.

Gary MacConnel announced that three scholarships of $ 2,500 each will be presented on August 1st to Worcester State University, Becker College and Quinsigamond Community College.

Tim McGeemoved that the addition of a fourth scholarship for a Salter College student bereconsidered at the next board meeting.
