Rotary Rocket April 12th, 2016
We had a fantastic meeting on Thursday. Our guest speaker was author C.J. Posk and her guest Cheryl Corey. C.J. wrote a book “Worcester Stacks Up”. This is a book about Worcester firsts! Not being from Worcester I learned a lot about what was invented and discovered here in Worcester such as, Shredded Wheat, The first pizza in a box and Near East Rice as well as the Pink Flamingo! C.J. covered the history behind these Worcester firsts as well.
RYLA: Our club’s RYLA committee has selected six participants and one alternate from applicants. We are sending 10th grade students from St. Johns, St. Peter - Marian, North High, Claremont Academy and Worcester Tech. Every member of the interview committee agrees that we will be sending great students to RYLA this June. We plan to bring our students to club meetings so members to get an opportunity to learn firsthand about RYLA, which is a great experience for all. Dave says we need volunteers to help with the program June 24-26 at Fitchburg State. Contact Dave at davemfraz@yahoo.com to join in a great experience.
