Dear Rotarians and Friends,

At last week's meeting, we met at Rotarian Warren Green's office to learn tricks & tips on taking pictures with our cell phones.  It was a great interactive meeting, and all who attended learned many great tips.  (Do you know the Rule of Thirds in photography?  To make your photographs more interesting, don't have your important elements in the center of the picture.  Off-center them along a 3×3 grid, which equally divides the image into nine parts).

This week, we will be meeting at the Weston Public Library for dinner and Club Assembly.  After the regular meeting, the Board of Directors will also meet to discuss club business.

Please register for the meeting by NOON on Wednesday, January 17th

Rotary Club of Weston & Wayland Explores International Collaboration in Sri Lanka
In a joyful journey that underscores the spirit of global cooperation, Rotary Club of Weston and Wayland member Joy Meng visited Sri Lanka, hailed as the top country to travel for six years by Lonely Planet for over three weeks.

During her stay in Sri Lanka, Joy introduced the Rotary Club of Weston and Wayland to Jerome Rajendram, the District Governor of Rotary Sri Lanka for 2023-2024, and met with Kosala Wickremanaye, the former President of the Rotary Club of Colombo (Capital city of Sri Lanka), at Cinnamon Life on December 22, 2023. Their discussions focused on collaborative projects that could benefit communities globally. Key initiatives included donating English children's books to assist Sri Lankan girls in learning basic English, supporting women small business owners in rural areas of Sri Lanka through coaching and financial loans, and setting up student exchange programs for Colombo students and Weston and Wayland students.

A highlight of Joy's visit was her family's extraordinary meeting with the President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, coincidentally on her birthday!
