Dear Rotarians and Friends,

This week is Club Assembly. I hope to see many of you there to hear from our Committee members and Teams about upcoming events. Moving into Q4 we have started our planning and volunteer opportunities for the Fishing Derby (April 21), Seedlings Project (week of May 6), and the Children's Business Fair (May 18). This is also an opportunity to hear from you! "Every voice counts!"

In response to the food and labor inflation affecting all of us, The Weston Golf Club has had to increase its prices for our dinner meetings. Rob Mosher and Jan Luchetti met with club management to discuss options. We negotiated some other cost-saving dinner options that we’ll announce this Thursday.

Boy Scout Troop 157 Pasta Dinner

Rotary Club of Weston & Wayland is the chartered organization for Boy Scout Troop 157. The troop is having their annual Pasta Dinner and Silent Auction, on Friday, April 5th from 6-8:30 pm at the community center.

Rotarians who would like to help cook at the event should contact Rich DeVito. Rotarians who can support the event by donating a silent auction item of between $50 or greater should contact Renae Shaday at renae.shadday@gmail.com. ALL Rotarians are strongly encouraged to attend this fun event and support scouting in Weston.

Weston area children! The Rotary Club of Weston & Wayland invites you to our annual Fishing Derby—a 40+ year tradition.

SUNDAY, April 21, 2024, from 9 am-12 pm at the Weston High School Pond.

Bring your own gear, bait (no lures, please), and bucket.

Fishing starts at 9 am sharp!

Prizes are in four age categories up to age 14.

In addition to sponsoring the Fishing Derby, the Rotary Club of Weston & Wayland hosts numerous other events throughout the year that raise funds to support humanitarian projects here and internationally. Projects include annual college scholarships for local high schoolers, preparing and providing meals at local soup kitchens, and a five-year project to restore a Weston field for pollinating insects.

Applications Now Open for our 4th Annual Children's Business Fair

The Children's Business Fair is back! It will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 11 am to 3 pm at the Weston Town Green during the Celebrate Weston! event. Applications are now open and spots are filling up quickly.

Children showcase their very own businesses at our one-day market, which is part of the largest entrepreneurship event for kids in North America. Kids develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy, and then open for customers at our one-day marketplace.

We all believe entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation.
