MEETING OPENING:

Meeting opening we all sang a patriot song
Guests: Many guests

Note from the President:

Hello Rotarians,

A great time was had by all at our celebration cookout. The weather was perfect and we had a lot of new faces join us. There were scout families, siblings, spouses and children of Rotarians as well as several shifts of first responders from our local fire house. We even had an unexpected drop in visit from the Cabot Farms representative from Vermont! By my count we had almost 60 people share the evening with us.

Thank you to all who helped pull together setting up and cleaning up after the event. Jan, John and Patty are a force of nature!. A special thank you to Edwin for being keeper of our stash of food and making the delivery for the cookout as he ran off to shuttle kids to soccer and then to the middle school back to school night. He even provided two recycling barrels so we can easily separate water bottles and cans at future events. Blake personally gave the grill a good cleaning after the car show and delivered it right on time for our event tonight. Rob, thank you for making the stop at the WGC for the bell and for leading us in song!

It was particularly fun to watch the heads turn as cars passed by the Tavern. People were looking at the Rotary balloon, the grill and people hanging out and it sure looked like they wished they were invited. Richard, great job in making sure the balloon was displayed.

October will be a very busy month and we will have a lot to invite people to soon.

We have our Club Assembly 10/5 at the WGC. It is really important that as many Rotarians make this meeting as possible. We will discuss membership types, our clubs priorities and begin planning the months a head. Your input and participation makes a difference.

October 12 we meet at the WGC and a guest speaker from District will lead us in a workshop on community service project development. This is the brainstorming meeting during which projects will be discussed and plans made to put them into action. If you have an idea for something this is the meeting not to miss.

October 19 meeting site to be announced. We will continue developing our service project ideas for 2017 and into 2018 and plan for the celebration event on 10/26.

October 26 is our first awards dinner for the new RYLA program at WGC. This celebration is our opportunity to welcome the Sophomores and their families into the Rotary community. More to come on this.

Your board is designing each meeting with a purpose and to create opportunities for people to be of service and to make a difference. Our meeting numbers are rising, we had a huge car show fundraising campaign and we are seeing new faces at our meetings. We have started! With that I share this quote:

"Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. " ~ Henry Ford

Have a great weekend and meaningful week.

Mark Messina
WWRC President

Meeting Notes:

Meeting Thursday, October 5th at the Weston Golf Club - Club Assembly

We celebrated the very successful car show with a cookout at the Josiah Smith Tavern Barn, there was a great turnout.

Many people came and our very favorite people did the cooking from Off Center Restaurant in Weston.

The Town Crier ran a full page of pictures of people and cars from the car show. Approximately 300 cars were at the car show.

We had a very special guest from Vermont, Jo Sabel Courney who represents Cabot Cheese Co-op. She brought cheese samples that were so good.

Our president, Mark Messina, talked about our future meetings and how important it will be for us to all attned meetings to be in tune to coming events. Including:

Selection process for sophomores/parents
Polio
October 26 - need to confirm celebration
Scouts food drive in November
Dog House now on display - sell tickets

Great to see Phil Cistulli and Chip Bradley looking so good after their exciting adventures at the car show!

Also, try to remember to wish Chip a Happy Birthday on October 5th.
