Dinner Meeting with Speaker, Aidan Chen

Aidan Chen, a Junior at Weston High School will be presenting his initiative, "Books for the Babies", an initiative that supports the March of Dimes' mission to improve the health of premature babies and advocates for their future literacy. 

During the first year,  "Books for the Babies" donated hundreds of board books to the families caring for their premature babies in the NICU at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. Studies show that despite being one of the richest countries in the world, the United States is experiencing an increase in the number of preterm births... and we still don't know why.  In addition, preterm infants who are not exposed to language while in the neo-natal intensive care unit, sometimes for many weeks, have lower language performance at age two. 

His hope is the "Books for the Babies" initiative can give these babies a stronger start on a life long journey of literacy with gifts of baby board books that parents can read to their baby in the NICU and then take home with them.

Aidan is looking to educate organizations about this initiative and would like to tell us about the importance of supporting literacy for everyone... even for very small babies.
