Ted opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, Karen delivered the invocation, and Andy led us in singing ‘God Bless America’.

The Rotary International President Elect passed away in Uganda.

Four Rotary clubs have each donated $1,500 for a water project. Needham Rotary is one of them.

Bill asked that everyone turn in unsold raffle tickets or money. So far we have sold 600 tickets.

Karen reported that we are doing a food drive for the Needham Community Council. Please bring in canned goods during the next three weeks. There are also 90 students who need school supplies. Please bring in large erasers, little pencil sharpeners and 12 inch rulers before August 17. The Board has donated $250 to both the food pantry and the school supplies program.

There is $750 in the pot. The number 627 was picked by Ted. While he had the winning number, he drew the Queen of Spades. The Joker was the lucky card. Stay tuned!!

 

Bob Dunning introduced Latanya Steele, Director of the Needham Senior Center and Alisha Kelley, the new Program Director at the Senior Center.  The Center at the Heights is expanding the program into evenings and weekends and seeking to utilize the roof top deck more frequently. The Senior Center is also trying to involve “younger” seniors in their programs. There is a new van coming soon. Latanya will be thinking about projects where the Needham Rotary might be of help to the Senior Center.
