Guest Speaker:
Needham Rotary has had a long working relationship with the Needham Community Council. The NCC and Rotary team up at Thanksgiving Day to cook lunch for roughly 80 people, and to cook and deliver an additional 80 meals to folks in their homes.
It has been some time since we have heard from Sandy Robinson, Executive Director. So she gave us an update on how the NCC is doing.
NCC has been doing good for Needham for 87 years. They provide:
• free medical transportation with Uber and Lyft as back ups
• back to school distribution program for school supplies
• food pantry
• medical loan closet
• ESL tutoring program that is very diverse
• Knitting groups
• Cooking classes
• CAP-child assault program
• Nursing home boutique
• Thrift shop-great fundraiser for the NCC
• Rotary club Thanksgiving Dinner
• VAN-volunteers around Needham
• Ride for food
When asked how Rotary could help the NCC and it’s clients, Sandy would like to see support for their back-pack program.
