Joke of the day: A kid comes home from school with a writing assignment. He asks his father for help. “Dad, can you tell me the difference between potential and reality?” His father looks up, thoughtfully, and then says, “I’ll demonstrate. Go ask your mother if she would sleep with Robert Redford for a million dollars. Then go ask your sister if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. Then come back and tell me what you’ve learned.”
The kid is puzzled, but decides to ask his mother. “Mum, if someone gave you a million dollars, would you sleep with Robert Redford?”
“Don’t tell you father, but yes, I would,” she replies.
He then goes to his sister’s room. “Sis, if someone gave you a million dollars, would you sleep with Brad Pitt?”
She replies, “Omigod! Definitely!”
The kid goes back to his father. “Dad, I think I’ve figures it out. Potentially, we are sitting on two million dollars, but in reality, we are living with two tramps.”

Birthdays: None

Guest Speaker: As this is our transition meeting, from the 2012/2013 rotary Year to the 2013/2014 year, everything centered on this. First, Charles reviewed his presidency – 2 new members; 3-5 prospective members; lost Jerry Goodman; Deb Donovan and Katy Lozano moved out of area; 39 members currently - Big thank you to Glen for his hard work. Thank you to Ted for almost having a carnival. Thank everyone for the 4th of July parade, dictionaries, holiday gathering at Erica’s, hosting student from Brazil, sending one to France, 2 scholarships and Reality Fair to name a few of the events during the past year. We had 2 successful fund raisers: both Pancake Breakfasts which both raised about the same amount of money. (Is this a typo?)

THANK YOU CHARLES FOR A GREAT YEAR! He received a standing ovation for a job well done! In addition, Glen presented Charles with a gavel and a Past President’s pin.

Installation of Officers: PDG Tom Polito installed the new offices for 2013-2014 as follows:
President: Glen Davis
Vice-President: Chris Teachout
Secretary: Bob Cocks
Treasurer: Ryan Damaso
Sargent-at-Arms: Greg Cronin
Immediate Past President: Charles Nelson
Directors: Brenda Diaz; Bill Rosenthal; Dan Tibma; Rich Forte; Ted Shaughnessy and Karen Wetmore

Glen Davis is a third generation Rotarian, his father Rick and grandfather were Rotarian Presidents before him. CONGRATULATIONS GLEN!

For this Rotary year, Glen wants to emphasize communication during his term to let non-Rotarians know what Rotary is and to work towards his goals for this coming year and into the future. He would like all members to participate with fund raising and become more involved. Also, thank you to Roz and Roberta who have agreed to arrange Speakers Bureau for the coming year.

Next Meeting: Tuesday, June 9, 2013 cookout at Claxton Field at 6 pm. Rotarians, friends of Rotary and families are all invited. Rumor is it never rains on a Needham Rotary picnic: right Bob?
